The Unwanted Wife by Natasha Anders
4.0
The Unwanted Wife was yet another risk I took with Amazon's $2 book deals, and it definitely paid off. I am a huge sucker for the pregnancy romance stories, and this one was different from anything I'd ever read before. Theresa stood her ground after a year of mistreatment from Sandro, and I loved seeing their relationship evolve. At first, I hated Sandro as much as Theresa did, but then I started to fall in love with. Her reluctance to trust Sandro again got to be a little annoying, but I thought it was understandable. Sandro definitely redeemed himself by the end, and there was no denying the chemistry between them. There was just enough drama to keep the story being cliche, and though I hated Theresa's dad, the plot with him was fresh and clever. The Unwanted Wife was the perfect solution to my romance novel fix. Recommended!

Some good romantic moments. Too many sex scenes. Could be shorter.

Love Unscripted by Tina Reber

Sometimes concept fail. We haven't colonized Mars or invented hover boards. I do not have a personal robot in my house to attend to my needs. Our world does not look like the Jetsons. Similarly, I thought Love Unscripted would be a sexy, exciting romance with celebrities and paparazzi. I really wanted this to be a story where a Ryan Gosling type actor meets an ordinary woman and falls in love. I really wanted this to be good. Sadly, that also didn't happen.
I actually did like Ryan, the love interest, but Taryn felt too Mary Sue to me. She was involved in businesses all over town, she's so nice and selfless, and let's not forget the standard trust issues these girls always have to have. Frankly, I'm over it. I think the flawed heroines are more interesting. Give a girl who messes up, who is unsure, who is fun, who is smart, who is all the things people are. The romance was okay, and I felt like the chemistry was pretty good. It was the plot that really blowed. Too much crazy drama, even for a story about a movie star and a normal person. These things do happen once a while in the real world, I assumed without the drama of Love Unscripted. There were just too many new adult cliches for this to be enjoyable. Not recommended!

Searching For Moore by Julie A. Richman

Okay, usually I would give this one or two stars, but my really bad day required something romantic and happy. This really didn't fulfill the happy part so I had to watch Sabrina (the 1954 version, not the remake). I don't really think enough of Searching for Moore to say anything else.
Now and Then by Brenda Rothert

Five Reasons That Bound Is Better Than Now and Then
1. Kate is wonderfully vulnerable and spunky. Life has dealt her a pretty crappy hand, but she keeps going. Emma, on the other hand, has no spine and no self-confidence. She is too scared to stand up to her older sister or actually tell her the truth so she hides behind lies like a kid.
2. Ryke is strong, considerate, and ridiculously sweet. I can't even hold playing hockey against him because he makes it sound so good. Cole has no personality and really nothing that endears him to me, just a tortured family secret that feels cliche.
3. Kate and Ryke's romance is slow-building and based on trust. Emma and Cole see each other again for the first time in years and fixate each other.
4. Kate's family and friends were supportive and enjoyable. Emma's family only seem to exist to make her life harder.
5. Because I said so and I'm out of good reasons!

Finding Pride by Jill Sanders

This was okay, but I'm honestly so burned out on romance. I'm just so sick of the boy who is the saving grace of the girl or the only one who understands her or the Prince Charming. I'm so so sick of the girl that is pathetic or the girl that can't do anything of herself. I'm so sick of happy endings and world that are so uncomplicated. I guess I'm just in the mood for darkness. I've been reading nonfiction and Plath poetry, trying to regain some balance again. Hopefully, I'll be able to enjoy romances like this again soon, but until them... I'll have to stay from Finding Pride's sequel.

A Few Of My Thoughts on The Perfect Game
1. Okay, so girl with trust issues. Gee, that's an original NA heroine. *deadpan look*
2. Hot Jerk Alert! Hot Jerk Alert! I do love a boy who plays baseball, though basketball is hotter. Can someone please write one of these stories with the guy playing basketball? I'm actually begging you. Jack Carter is the perfect jerk, but if he played basketball even I couldn't resist.
3. I really liked Dean and Melissa. Melissa's a great friend, and Dean is so charming. I sense a thing happening there! And by thing, you know what I mean.
4. I'm not sure if it is cute or creepy that Jack calls Cassie Kitten. The jury's still out.
5. Also, the quarter thing. Creepy or not? Still haven't decided.
6. I foresee a lot of trust issues here. I think Cassie and Dean have serious chemistry, but this is not going to be an easy relationship.
7. Oh my God! Poor Cassie! What kind of guys run away and let a girl get mugged! I don't feel bad for wanting Jack to beat his teammates up for that.
8. I adore Gran and Gramps. They're just so cute and funny!
9. Jack, you absolute ***hole! How could you f***ing do that! I don't think I've ever been more angrier at a fictional boy cheating in a book ever. I really wanted Cassie to hurt him somehow. I wanted to hurt him somehow. Then again, now he does have to marry that b-word. I guess you have to lie in the bed you've made for yourself.
10. I like Cassie so much more now. She's hurting, but she's trying to move on and live her life. She didn't do the whole Bella Swan thing of lying in bed for literally three months and then trying to do life-threatening stunts to feel closer to her ex-boyfriend (which is highly unrealistic and pathetic, but I'm not going to go into it because this isn't a review of New Moon). Cassie definitely gets bonus points with me for that.
11. Okay, I can't hate Jack anymore. His gifts might be the most romantic gesture ever, and I did swoon when he wrote this in his note, "My heart belongs to you. And I'm not asking for it back, even if you won't want it anymore. I'm just asking for a chance to have your again. I promise I'll be more careful with it this time.” I might forgive a cheating jerk for such things if he had game like Jack Carter does in this elaborate apology.
12. I'm going to read the next book and not just because I bought both of these togethers because they were marked down for $2. I sort of want to know where this is going.

Ten Things That Were Good (and Bad) About The Game Changer
Good
1. Jack's explanation of everything that had happened on his side of the story since he had last seen Cassie. This really helped me get into Jack's mindset and understand him more. Jack really started to make it up to us here.
2. Matteo! I'd really like a book just about Matteo and his large Italian family and Trina.
3. The MLB inner drama! I didn't know that there is a hierarchy with the player's wives, but it doesn't surprise me. Also, Trina is an awesome side character!
4. Just Jack. He totally redeems himself in this one.
5. Gram and Gramp's advice to Cassie:
“What matters the most is who you love. Because when everything else is a distant memory, the people you love are all that’s left. And love is the single most important thing we can do in our lives. Give it. Receive it. Teach others how to do it"- Gran
“Love is life. If you miss out on love, you miss out on life"- Gramps
Bad
1. The fake-out love triangle. Really, J. Sterling? Just let them be happy!
2. Cassie being so wish-washy. Not enjoying that. She needs to either decide she loves Jack and is willing to be with him and whatever that entails.
3. Crystal. Just, Crystal. What a freaking shrew!
4. The recap went on a little too long.
5. Unnecessary drama.

Sluts by Christine Stockton

This collection of essays was free on my Kindle and sounded intriguing enough for a download. I was pleasantly surprised by some funny and some very well-thought out essays on just what the word slut means. Sex, relationships, and power were all discussed, and the only time I got uncomfortable was when explicit sexual material was discussed. Otherwise, solid collection! If you have Kindle, this is worth a download.
Cross My Heart by Abigail Strom

I just finished this an hour or two ago, and I once again gained hope for free Kindle romances. It was gone for a while (as you might've noticed in my reviews), but now it's back. I've also noticed something else. All of the romances I enjoy best, the ones I pour over again and again, are the ones I've downloaded long ago and yet am reluctant to read. How strange...
This was just a lovely little story. I related so strongly to Jenna, this woman who just does not want to be tied down to anywhere or anyone. It's a scary feeling, being trapped, and it was easy for me to understand her thoughts and emotions. Michael was a harder nut to crack, but eventually I got to know him as well. I loved how he treated Jenna and Claire. It is definitely hard to be a dad with a teenage daughter. Sometimes I think my dad just kind of rolls with everything. It was short, sweet, and perfect for my insomnia fueled night.
I totally recommend!
