although this book did take me a while to get through, the plot was interesting and I did enjoy it. however, the third-person omniscient point of view confused me at times and i really just wanted to dive deeper into Toby’s thoughts and feelings, rather than hearing it from an outsider.

a good read, nonetheless :)

i studied this for an english assignment, so i had no choice but to finish it. however, it was a good read and i was interested in the plot throughout. it did make me cry though, so um- beware!

all hail leigh bardugo for reminding me why i love YA fantasy novels so much. while the actual storyline is quite simple, i thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Alina’s character and her relationship with her power.

i could not put this book down and was glad that i didn’t. when i finished, i NEEDED to know what happened next!

pls read this before you watch the netflix series, trust me. while ben barnes really made the show for me, the book series is far better!

i did enjoy this sequel, but i did find the plot dragging on at some points. however, any scene with nikolai or the darkling instantly drew me back in and i’m happy to say that nikolai is currently my favourite grishaverse man (until six of crows, i’m sure).

i’ve always loved a bit of shakespeare, and reading this for my english class was no different. macbeth’s character development and rise to power fascinated me and i loved seeing how lady macbeth’s character changed with him.

still upset about my best boy, banquo, but i still enjoyed this play nonetheless!

as the first book by oscar wilde that i’ve read, i was instantly captivated by the vivid imagery that he puts into his work. throughout the entire novel, i felt as though i was right there with dorian and lord henry and i thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

maybe it’s because i was forced into reading this for school, but i just did not enjoy this novel. yes, the theme of totalitarianism and the character development were extremely interesting but i just cannot enjoy a novel where i do not like any of the characters. and perhaps i was not supposed to like winston or julia, but my feelings towards the two definitely impacted my read.
