maybe it’s because i was forced into reading this for school, but i just did not enjoy this novel. yes, the theme of totalitarianism and the character development were extremely interesting but i just cannot enjoy a novel where i do not like any of the characters. and perhaps i was not supposed to like winston or julia, but my feelings towards the two definitely impacted my read.
