Re-read: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Noticed a few things this time around that I couldn’t ignore and lead me to drop my rating from 5 to 4. BUT, story and vibes wise this is 5 stars ♾️.

Update - nothing makes sense. Still.

Lidia and Ember saved this for me.

This book reminded me why I love to read. Heart-wrenching, giddy, tear (singular) all the things.

Although “Into the Wild” by John Krakuaer was VERY on my mind. IYKYK.

I REALLY struggled with Calla at the beginning. Frankly, she irritated me to no end. But I love her arc and now we’re friends.

I think KA did a great job of building a strong plot and developing her characters to have this book be really well rounded. Tropes were there but she wasnt relying on them to push the story forward.

I’m nervous about the rest of the series since this was so strong but we’ll see.

Highly recommend this book!

When I finished book one, I was so eager for this sequel. I couldn’t wait for more of Calla and Jonah’s story. Well. Considering the climax of this book took place at the end of book one, this was really just a bunch of falling action. TLDR: this was a novel length epilogue to book one.

That being said, of course I enjoyed being with Calla and Jonah. Their arcs and journeys continue to develop and unfold with real problems and such. But this book is really just bonus content/“a day in the life” for die hard fans of book one. I’m going to read the novella but I dont expect it to be anything over eventful.

**Update** Even though this book didn't GRIP ME like book one did, I really enjoyed it in hindsight. The characters and story are staying with me days later. I will definitely re-read this as a comfort re-read at some point.

Honestly, wow. What a redemption arc. I’m pretty sure I had chest pain the entire time reading this book because of Marie. There are so many “tropes” that exist in this story that I really do not enjoy. HOWEVER, it was a well-written book, developed story, and I didn’t want to DNF despite being so mad at the characters.

I think someone who forgive easily wont have a tough time with this book.

Idk. I have a lot of thoughts.

Cozy, warm, perfect. I read and then listened on audio in one month. Ada is relatable and Wes is steady. I love Rebel Blue.

And the way I LAUGHED at the beginning omg.

Done and Dusted but better. If you were MEH about D&D, this is worth it!

I’ve read 3 Sarah Adams books and this is the third that I have read in one sitting. I loved this so much! I could not put this book down!

The beginning is SO STRONG AND AMAZING. Instantly invested in the characters and their story. And the whiteboard scene had me laughing out loud.

The ending wasn’t my favorite but it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the book (

2.75. I love the characters, their relationship, and this journey so much. However, there were just a lot of things that I noticed that were barriers to this being a cohesive book that prevented me from enjoying it.

I also say this after having read other books by Tarah and absolutely loving them.

I hope she revisits this one like she did Co-Op. because I do want more of this story.
