Thoughts before reading the novel:
"That's a pretty cover."
"Karou and Akiva? Huh. Interesting choice of names."
"Intriguing plot. I wonder what happens..."
"Ooohh, it's a fantasy!! I'm sold!"

An angel and a demon falling in love with each other? It sounds like an old tune played one too many times already, but halt, foolish human!! That is not the case this time.

Another novel I spied here in Goodreads, I am delighted to say it exceeded expectations and twisted my imagination in the most beautiful way possible. Daughter of Smoke & Bone is a pure joy to read; everything about the story was intricately woven in this magnificent web of mystery, love, and magic that I willingly got myself entangled in. The author, Laini Taylor, has a natural gift for writing, and bless her soul for putting that gift to good use.

Think you already know everything about angels and demons—their world, their lives, their animosity towards each other? Well, this novel will prove you wrong, and you will love it.

As I write this down, there are several emotions warring inside me, and I am trying my very hardest to tone them down and to not burst out all of a sudden. Looking back, this was also what I did while I read this book. I controlled myself to not lose control... if that makes any sense.

I stumbled upon this novel while browsing Goodreads. I had to stack up on novels before we leave for the province so I could read, read, and read to my heart's content. So there I was that fateful night, mindlessly searching for books I might like. Naturally, I went to the adventure/fantasy department, and I spotted this little beauty. I proceeded to add it up to my Kindle, but I didn't give it much thought afterwards. It actually got lost in the multitude of books I got! But somehow, after finishing a book, I spotted it amidst the titles in my Kindle. I thought "Meh, I'll read this one next", and after that, I was lost in the world of the Shadowhunters forever.

Cassandra Clare joins my "Most Beloved and Favorite Authors" list. She is right there beside J.K. Rowling and Rick Riordan, drinking tea and eating biscuits, perhaps. I cannot believe how much I fell in love with William Herondale, Theresa Gray, and James Carstairs. How I was torn between frantically sifting through the pages and pacing myself to truly enjoy and absorb everything. How my head is spinning and my heart is soaring for having found a book—a world—as wonderful and captivating as the demon-fighting Nephilims'. Only a GREAT book could elicit such emotions in me, and I thank Ms. Clare for that. And also Goodreads!! It was only after finding Clockwork Angel did I become a believer of this site's slogan: Meet your next favorite book.

Okay, I didn't know Delirium was about love. Honest. Which makes the situation highly ironic since I avoid these novels at all cost and without my knowledge, I just ran gobsmack into one.

So there I was, opening another dystopian novel right when I just finished Insurgent, and I thought I was in for another badass, action story with a sidekick of romance... so imagine my surprise when I finished the first chapter. I was so close to not continuing, but my curiosity got the better of me.

With its mixture of romance and teen angst, which I was never a fan of, in a dystopian setting, Delirium was actually a pleasant surprise. I admit it got overly sweet and mushy for my own taste at some points, okay at most points, but I managed to let the matter slide. I continued reading and just accepted it. I mean, how can things not be sweet and mushy in a novel like this one, eh? At least it was well-written and not just another teenage sob story about love and whatnot. So yeah, I actually liked the novel... not my favorite, but I liked it.
