Pure Country: A Central Texas MM Romance by Kelly Fox
5.0
This book showcases why Kelly Fox has risen to become one of my favorite authors.
The book is so much fun with just enough spice and feels. This is one of those books where you don’t need the spice because the plot is so good. I mean of course we get toe curling spice but we also get all the emotions. I don’t want to give too much away, but the way this book tackles the struggles of being honest about who you are and what you feel make it such a wonderful read.
Kess and Rowdy work really well together and the way both characters grow and evolve is a testament to the trust they have in each other. There are some surprises along the way that just made me gasp and think, Oh this makes so much sense. I won’t tell what they are though, you just have to read the book.
The guest character appearances from some of Kellys other series are hilarious and I love how all the series just keep on linking up. It makes me want to re-read the other books again.
Only The Small Bones by C.P. Harris
4.0
I was a bit hesitant starting this book because I have been a bit fragile lately. But I am happy that I did. This book is a sucker punch and it hurts reading it. There are some major plot twists that I didn't see coming but they just make sense.
William and Ryan are two broken souls and their lives get so fully intertwined that it is sometimes hard to feel who is feeling what. They may be broken but not unrepairable, they just have to go on this journey, both together and apart, to really get to the heart of the hurt. You will be angry and you will cry and ask why, WHY THEM?. But you will also see the small glimmers of hope. Both characters are flawed and maybe a bit too codependent but in this instance you have to look deeper and search for the why.
And I think this is where CP Harris brings us on a journey of understanding that being hurt and how you react to bad things happening to you is not linear. There are highs and lows and good days and bad days and everything in between. It is jealousy, hate, love and acceptance. Healing is a journey and you just have to be understanding that some heal faster then others and some may never fully heal and that is okay.
I don’t want to give too much away, because I feel like if I start to explain one thing then I need to explain the next and without me realising I will have told you the whole plot. Just be mindful and read the TW’s because this book covers some dark and hard subjects.
Ice & Sweet by Charlie Novak

This book is a perfect holiday read, I could not stop smiling when reading it. It is a perfect mix of sweet, spicy and funny with low angst so you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the book.
Luke, a former child star turned baker, is making the cake for his best friend Kane’s wedding. The best friend that he fake dated for 3 years so that Kane, who at the time was in a boyband, could come out. But it wasn’t Kane that was Luke’s secret crush but André the bandmate of Kane. A crush he has been fighting for over 5 years.
When they met again on their way to the wedding, after Luke’s car blew-out a tyre, he realizes that the crush he has on André is not going anywhere. But he is not alone in his pining because André has had a crush on Luke since the day they met all those years ago. But never said anything because Luke was dating Kane. But when he finds out it was all for show, all bets are off and a snowstorm helps them along the way since they now are stuck an extra day at the wedding venue. Que a lot of flirting, spicy moments and baked goods.
This book is spicier than you would think but it just elevates the connection between the two main characters. I enjoyed that when we left the wedding venue and came back to the “real world” we still got a lot of plot progress and that we see how Luke and André’s relationship evolves during this time.
I am so happy that I have been giving Holiday Romance books a chance this season because otherwise I may have missed this gem of a book.
A Kiss for the Holidays by C.S. Autumn
4.0
This is such a sweet holiday novella about two best friends that after a holiday uni party starts to glide apart. All because of a small misunderstanding regarding a kiss.
Asher and Dalton meet when they are about 8-9 years old and since that first day they have stuck together through thick and thin. After misunderstanding at a party they both attended in their early 20s, Asher starts to put some distance between them. All because he feels like he needs to get over his crush on Dalton. But it's not as easy as he would have wanted it to be. Especially since their families are going to celebrate Christmas together in Austria.
In Austria all is going as well as it can with the tension building between the two MC’s. This until a faithfull night when they end up snowed in after Asher takes a tumble and Dalton follows. This is a blessing in disguise because now they have to talk and sort out the tension between them. And I will leave you at that because I don't want to give too much away, but let me tell you it is not as smooth sailing as you would think.
This is a short story with a lot of fun steamy moments but also light angst-y ones. Both of the characters have to work for that HEA and the payout is very sweet. It’s a perfect read if you want to get away from the holiday bustle for a bit, just don’t forget the hot chocolate or even better the mulled wine.
Gambler's Conceit by Raissa Phoenix, Adara Wolf
4.5
This one is dark and it made me cry in the first chapters because I felt Seven’s despair and self hate. When he enters the car of mob boss Caleb Spade, he changes the trajectory of his life if it is for the best or worse it is up for debate.
Seven not only attracts the attention from Caleb but also from Caleb's enforcer Vortex and the hustler and army reject of Havoc. These three men are quite different and they don’t necessarily like eachother but they all have the well being of Seven in common so they learn to cope. And the way they cope is electric.
All three alone build a relationship with Sevan, both physical and emotional. But it is when they are all together that the fireworks start and that Sevan’s mind finally settles down.
Not only is Seven a multifaceted character with a dark past, but the same can be said about Vortex and Havoc. They both have things going on in their lives that I have a feeling will come back and bite them in the ass later on. TBH Caleb feels like the character with the most clear cut road ahead of him but who knows what will happen.
As with any dark romances there are many ups and downs and they way that Adara Wolf and R. Phoenix oh so slowly but not fully revealing Sevens past is such a tease and it just made me incapable of putting the book down.
The book has glimmers of hope but it is also dark AF.
This book ends with a HFN and I can't wait until the next book is released.

The Pretenders of Copper County by May Archer

4.0
Chris and Reed are just hilarious together. Chris is a sweetheart but he is also a clumsy mess and a bit too good hearted for his own good. Reed is stoic and tries so hard not to feel anything. But meeting Chris and being his protective agent awakes something in him and he starts to believe in a life with love. The way we end up in Copper County is just gold and meeting all of these amazing side characters made it even more enjoyable to read.
May has created a storyline that keeps you hooked. It's funny and romantic but also a bit sad and in places a bit unhinged just like the TV show John Ruffain: Pretender, which is mentioned quite a bit in the book.
The book is steamy but that is not what is important, the relationship between the main characters and also the friendships they form with the others in Copper County are.
This is the perfect book to read snuggled up in your favorite spot. It is a fast read that leaves you wanting more. All in all it is a heartwarming story about two people meeting under “interesting” circumstances and how they criss-cross their way to love.
