honestly, this book was amazing.

i have never read a fiction piece in which magic was approached the way it was in this book, and i loved every second.

and the fact that both main character have their own story and their own motivations completely separate from one another is also refreshing. i enjoyed the idea that perhaps lila didn't care for the balance and upkeep of magic as well as the wellbeing of others as kell did, and that she wanted to explore, and i suppose capture, as much as she could when she came across it. and kell was wonderfully put across, not a perfect 'magician' or prince, still rebellious and self-involved to be realistic, but with enough care for his world to not be unlikeable.

and finally, the way that even minor character were given their own soul and character allowed me to feel like i had a sense of the worlds and the communities without overpowering it and adding too much unneeded separate dialogues from irrelevant characters.
