Modern day Lear retelling. I couldn’t put this down , absolutely wonderful. Shades of Shirley Jackson for me too, oddly.

Very, very helpful in sorting out my thoughts about this ‚issue‘ and why it is being pushed so much at the moment. Radical and liberationist

Phenomenal, well deserved Booker win this year. Just wished certain topics were handled a wee touch more sensitively (suicide is touched on though not a major theme) and I felt the way it was handled was not quite right , but it’s art and certainly the author conveyed a lack of any stigma about it by the end. A beautiful ghost story and gives voice to the dead of Sri Lanka in a clever and moving way.
