Breathe by Abbi Glines
3.0
Oh, Abbi Glines, how your book's quotes led me to believe Breathe was going to be truly great. Then again, I guess I should've known better because you can find good quotes in bad books (see Twilight, particularly Jake Black's "Life sucks, and then you die.")
I didn't hate Breathe, but it wasn't anything that swept me off my feet. The plot was okay, if a little cliche. Haven't we already read the rock star or movie star falling in love with the poor small town girl? Other authors do this better. Refer to This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith if you don't believe me. I liked Sadie enough as a character, but she lacked the spunk and spirit of heroines such as Abby in Beautiful Disaster and Sky in Hopeless. Jax did very little for me as a love interest. He was just too much of a cliche, and I already have a favorite boy rock star in fiction (see Hunter in Unmaking Hunter Kennedy by Anne Eliot). I preferred Marcus, but I really hated the preview for Abbi Glines's next book after this featuring him so I don't know if I'll be seeing him again soon. I loved everyone who worked at Jax's house (Ms. Mary and Mr. Greg), but I absolutely despised Sadie's mom. What a worthless woman!
Overall, Breathe was okay, but it wasn't anything knew. If you're going to do something that's already been done a million times, you need to do it better than those people. This wasn't better.

Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines
4.0
Okay, I'll admit that my first encounter with Abbi Glines ended in disappointment. I read Breathe (the first book in the Sea Breeze series) and could not understand why everyone swooned over this women's writing. That being said, my ratings of the Too Far Series seems pretty out of character for me. Here's my list of reasons I actually coughed up four stars for this book. Please bear with me as I unravel this mystery.
1. I bought Fallen Too Far as a splurge read when I had a really bad cold. Like, the cold from hell (that I caught flying home on a Spirit plane. Let that be a lesson to all!). I was sick and miserable, and when I'm sick and miserable I just want some gooey romance.
2. Glines knows how to hook you. I couldn't stop reading. I needed to know what would happen with Blaire and Rush. I wanted to know Rush's secrets about Nan, and I wanted to see if this relationship could work.
3. This book is seriously hot. I'm not usually into smut (too much Catholic school, I suppose), but I couldn't skim this. It was very well-written.
4. Fallen Too Far is actually an interesting story. Blaire and Rush had intense chemistry, plenty of hurdles in front of them, and I actually liked both of them. It just had all the components of a good romance.
5. Blaire is not some whiny heroine pinning after a guy. She's tough, independent, and not willing to change herself for anyone else. I loved her from the moment she threatened to shoot Grant.
6. I love me a bad boy with tattoos and a secret heart of gold, and Rush Finlay fit the bill to a tee. Enough said.
7. Glines also ends on the most painful cliff-hangers ever, practically guaranteeing I have to read the next book.
I'm not saying it's highbrow literature, but Fallen Too Far made me happy when I needed it, and that's enough for me. It's a guilty pleasure read that will make you laugh, swoon, and want more. If you need something to read when you're sick, Fallen Too Far will make the time pass quicker.

Never Too Far by Abbi Glines

It's not very different from the first, but I kept reading anyways. I had to know what would happen with this couple. Reading Abbi Glines's books are liking eating potato chips: you can never just eat one.

Someone kill Nan, please? Otherwise, a perfectly nice conclusion.

Rush Too Far by Abbi Glines
4.0
Abbi Glines just cannot go wrong when she writes in Rush's POV. He's just so badass and sexy and adorable. I want one, and it's not really fair that he is fictional. I liked the fact Glines went back and wrote Fallen Too Far in Rush's voice since that is the only novel of the series solely voiced by Blaire. He became much more likable to me after I got inside his head a bit, particularly in how he initially treated Blaire. I definitely recommend this for fans of Rosemary Beach and Rush Finlay. If you aren't an Abbi Glines fan, I'd suggest giving it a try. It's the perfect pick-me-up on a rainy day or when you have the flu.
Kiro's Emily by Abbi Glines

Abbi Glines should really stick to novellas. This was sweet and sexy without boring me or making me want to vomit. My heart broke for Kiro knowing he'd never get his happy ending.
