Look it's chock full of information but I'm so sick of reading books my boss bought me.

A lot of people have referred to this as "trauma porn" but I didn't get that, though I see why people could feel that way. I felt like it was much more akin to getting to know someone with a deeply troubled past. You know it the whole time and it comes out in bits and starts and it's awful. I found it deeply moving, incredibly impactful, and felt hopeful and promising, even though it was desperately sad. I thought it was a story, ultimately, of someone who kept getting up and trying again and again and again.

I'm really not sure that I understood this book at all, but I am glad that I read it. I don't know how you can be unsure if you got the point and still be glad you read it, but there it is. The truth is, the book was better about confusion and uncertainty and the pain of trying to process your life as you continue living it and not knowing where any of the roads leading and looking back and realizing what you thought you got you maybe didn't, or maybe you got something else. I liked it. I just don't know if I got it.

A book about 4 generations of women and how all of their choices contributed to each other - phenomenal and captured the heart of the midwest and Minnesota in a real way, a way that I could share with people to share my own home.

Lighthearted across-the-board,  easy to absorb and a refreshing look at the chaos that being with the same person forever can engender.

I don't think I got it but I also felt compelled the whole way through. Interested to see what the movie interpretation is like.
