This will spoil the entire fucking plot so do NOT read the rest before finishing the book 🗣📢‼️
Immediately you have to question the validity of what the narrator says, which was actually well written for this book. At first I thought that she was having hallucinations, but when she described Reed's grandfather I slowly warmed up to the idea that she could see the dead. It hurt to go in knowing (or at least under the impression) that all the crew dies and trying not to get attached. I very much got attached and subsequently emotionally destroyed.  When Kane was scared to give her the screwdriver, I think that was my breaking point. This also implied that he knew he was talking to a hallucination of Nysus and chose to speak to him anyways. I love scifi horror and confined horror and this was so fun. My favorite characters were unfortunately Voller and later Reed before the murder incident. Idk what that says about me but I don't want to think about it too much,,,, I also loved Nysus but we didn't get to see too much of him. I always think I want a book where main characters die but then when it happens I regret wishing for it. I've actually been waiting for a book that uses the out of hearing range sound-induced hallucinations. I learned about it a while ago and thought it was pretty useful to know.

I like horror set in confined spaces and expeditions, so that part was fun. I do have a few things that pissed me off:
1.
why the actual fuck did Aidan go back for the ring?? And lie about his oxygen every dive?? Mans should not have been there.  I think I might have preferred if he died, actually.

2. A lot of coincidental things saved a lot of people a lot of times,,,
3.
I don't love the cloth explanation, but I don't really know of one that I would have liked. I was wondering if they were hallucinating during the last couple dives or something like that.

1.
I LOVED the unexpected twists, the backstory of him not actually volunteering was so cool!!

2.
Rocky my beloved ♡ I wonder if one of the other people had survived instead if they would have decided ro meet Rocky?

3.
The ending did feel very optimistic. I like a happy ending, but I also can't complain about a sad ending. Genuinely thought he would get back to Earth and see that there had been a nuclear holocaust after he left and he was the last human (or something like that)

4. This was very dense in the science part of science fiction. I wish I was better at physics :/
5.
I loved stratt and I loved Ihlynaka or however it's spelled. The characters were all distinct, and Stratt's betrayal made sense, even if I thought for sure that he would agree. Did NOT see that coming but hindsight is 20/20

A lot more smut than I had anticipated. Felt very rushed and had an ending open enough for another book. I don't love the idea of Grey waiting 50 years for his future wife to even be born. I would have ignored it if he wasn't constantly bringing it up. The way he's obsessed with her when he hasn't known her for more than a few months was,,,, interesting,,,,

Bryan is the only character in the book that won't be getting fast tracked straight to hell. Maybe also the taxi driver. I have so many questions, and the answers (which were only given for a few of them) fell flat.

The book was just too happy. I know it doesn't make sense and yes there was all the bullying and homophobia. I guess it just didn't go into the characters' emotions enough. Characters felt a little one dimensional sometimes, but the flaws were pretty realisitic. Loved Miguel and Amber's dynamic.

I went into the book blindly and was pleasantly surprised! It felt very YA but for what it was, I liked it. I kind of wanted to see more of Carter.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
This book is so poorly written I thought it was AI. The plot is incredibly generic, the characters are all stereotypes, and I am losing my mind.

the lack of communication was killing me but ig it makes sense for their ages. Also I loved how Andrew had a soft side for the kids. I was getting angry with Jamie but considering the circumstances, a lot of the way he acted throughout the book was understandable, even if it pissed me off.
