Netflix’s “Fall of the House of Usher” meets “My Favorite Murder,” but make it very British. A pretty good novel, would have given it a 4, but it was tad too long of a story in certain parts.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 13%.
Sooo dull! And confusing with all the jumping around, weird short chapters, and not really a murder mystery.

I read the reviews to make sure I didn’t miss anything, and relieved to find that others were confused to at the lack of what actually happened in this book. I heard such great things about this story, but found it extremely dull, and the author stretching to write a profound story; littered with extreme-not needed metaphors, and conversations/lines people rarely use in actual conversations.
I’m guessing the author intended to leave things as mysterious, but the tone of the book, and how the main characters acted throughout, suggested we would receive answers in the end.
We’re supposed to be sad at the end, but I didn’t really care enough for the characters to even feel feelings towards them, and I am an easier crier.
I gave it a two instead of a one because my curiosity was peaked from time to time.

The description is slightly misleading. This is not a murder mystery, it’s just these two women swapping stories, and somehow they connect because we’re all the same.
The title is also misleading, as anytime they are referred to as witches, it’s denied, and equated to as gifts from god.
Not sure if the translation was lazy, or maybe it is how it is originally written, but there is way too much repetition throughout the story, and same scenes.
