People who are in love but never lovers, this book describes the beauty and odd romance of friendship. There aren’t enough books about friendships. Sam and Sadie are childhood friends who start making a videogame together, but then their indie game spirals into a cult classic making Sam and Sadie one of the most respected game designers in the world. Zevin crafts a story that is both insanely fun and witty, yet heartbreaking. It is a beautiful and oftentimes raw look at platonic love, ambition, sacrifice, and grief. As a fan of video games and an even bigger fan of the people who make them, it shows games in such a creative and flattering light. By the end of the book, I was so mad that I couldn’t just get up and play most of the games they had made. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow gave me such an intense book hangover. I cried because I didn’t want it to end and I will be thinking about it for years to come.

A perfect cute and fluffy romance to ease your woes. Hannah is a bodyguard who has had an awful week. Her mother passed away suddenly and her boyfriend just broke up with her. So when an easy case pops up for work she takes it. But the person she's protecting is a famous movie star, who she has to pretend to date in order to keep him safe. A super fun book for those who prefer their romance a little less steamy. It is quick, lighthearted, and such a great pick-me-up.

Part memoir, part history, this book gives us an intimate look at gay bars and gay culture. It speaks about the importance of gay bars, but also the problems that they perpetuated. Melancholic and I can only describe the writing as erotic but in an incredibly nonsexual way. It speaks to the feelings of missing out. Like the best days happened before you were born or maybe they never even existed at all. Oftentimes queer history has been erased, or heavily whitewashed. Jeremy Atherton Lin breathes new life into history and shows us that queer life continues everywhere, and I’ll drink to that.

An equally humorous and educating feminist analysis of Greek myths. This book takes a look at the women in myth we villainize and asks us, why? I never truly realized how much influence Greek myth has on modern stories and how far back the tropes of evil stepmothers, beautiful seductresses, and nagging wives go. The first step to dismantling our misogynistic views is to understand where they originated from, and this book shows you that. It makes you realize how often justifiably angry female archetypes are, and how often we only get characters such as Helen of Troy and Pandora from the perspective of men. Haynes gives us a wonderfully sympathetic view of the myths that have captivated us for centuries. Also for fans of Circe and Ariadne, this is the perfect nonfiction companion.
