Whisper to Me by Nick Lake
3.0
This book is not what I thought it would be. Nothing like how I thought it would go at all. I feel like the synopsis doesn't really quite cover what the book is actually about. It's not about a boy through the entire book but a girl who hears a voice who lets her know she's a crappy person.
We find out that the voice is one of herself, her self disappointment. She's lost her mind because she thinks she's the reason her mother was dead.
This book is more along the lines of a self-discovery story instead of a romance book that the synopsis leads you to believe.
I didn't quite like this book. It had it's good parts, but it had mostly boring parts. There was only two characters I liked and one ended up dead, the other was hardly even seen in the book and he was kind of a pushover.
I was upset with how this book ended too. Cliffhangers with no sequels are a different kind of demon. Authors who do this should be put in the corner for timeout.

My most favorite thing about this book is the family connection. I wish I knew that my sister would have taken care of me if my parents passed away while we were young. I wish I had a connection like that with my sister.
The characters in this book were made so well. You can tell that Melissa put a lot of thought into each of them. This entire book was so well written, not just the characters.
I just love books like this because it's apart of my age group and I relate to it more.
It's a very steady paced book and it doesn't rush you into anything. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad that Melissa chose me as someone to review this book for her. I'm looking forward to reading more of her works :)
Definitely five out of five stars!!!

"But I'd take a slashed throat over a broken neck any day. At least that way I'd get to bleed all over his shoes. One final fuck-you before I died."
I stepped out of my comfort zone with this book and I'm glad I did. Normally, I stick to vampire books if I want to read outside of the romance category. I saw this series on my local Craigslist site and purchased it deciding I'd give it a go since she was selling the series cheap. I am extremely glad I ran across that post!
Faythe is a rebel, which every young woman has a phase of. She got away from her Pride by convincing her father to let her go to college. I love the major she chose to pursue, and if you can't guess it... it's literature! Faythe is a bookworm, like myself. I always love it when I can be on a personal level with the main character and I love having things in common with them.
"Ask for the impossible, then settle instead for what you really wanted in the first place."
There is a sort of love triangle between Faythe, Marc and Jace. I, of course, was rooting for Marc the entire time. They were together before so I was hoping she'd give him the second chance he deserved. I like how Marc is possessive and protective over her. It's always nice when there's an alpha who knows how to treat his woman.
"The moment the door opened I knew an ass-kicking was inevitable. Whether I'd be giving it or receiving it was still a bit of a mystery."
The action is better than I expected. There is an abundance of "the edge of your seat" moments. There were times I could not put the book down for anything. There's plenty of blood and gore for those who love it.
I'm ready to find out what awaits Faythe and Marc in New Orleans!

Tempting Fate by Anastasia Nil

First off, I'd like to thank Anastasia for asking me to review her book. I entered to win it in a contest, knowing my chances were slim to none to winning it. When I got her email, I was beyond thrilled to give it a read!
I like how fast the two main characters are introduced. It's always nice to get a feel of both of them right from the beginning.
I love Crystal. She sounds a lot like me and I love when I relate to the main character.
I think the book moved a little too fast. It jumped from scene to scene a little too fast, almost making me forget what just happened.
The story is great. I like the idea of the book but you can tell that she's a new author. I feel like that with time, her writing will improve and it'll be easier to read.

Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winters

I accidentally read this book in one sitting. Oops...
I could not put it down. Just like the Monsters In The Dark series, I was sucked in.
So far, I really like Nila. Her name is very unique. She's a unique individual. She's a loner, only around her twin brother, Vaugn, and her father, Tex. Also, she has a weird obsession with texting someone she's never met before.
She has a runway show for the clothes she makes and at the end of it her father introduces her to Jethro.
Jethro has yet to do anything to make me like him. He seems like the prick Pepper has made him out to be. My heart hopes he'll be like Q. (Please be like Q and not an ass hole!!!)
Jethro brings her to her new home and they lay down the rules. They expect her to be obedient. She won't go down without a fight though.
Nila is a strong person and I adore her for it.
This book was a fantastic read and I'm looking forward to what happens after that cliffhanger!

First Debt by Pepper Winters

From the beginning, I knew I would like Jethro. He's not as hard as he pretends to be. We know he's waiting to inherit the entire estate, just to ruin it all.
We also know he has feelings for Nila. He even goes easy on her during the first debt, which is a big no-no.
He gives her the chance to run even, but if she can't find her way out she belongs to him. We all knew how that one was going to turn out. He wrote down marriage-like vows. He now owns her soul.
Nila also thinks that this "Kite" she's been talking to is Jethro's younger brother, Kes.
This book was such a great follow up for Debt Inheritance. I couldn't put the damn thing down. I love all of the characters. They are all so complex, even the characters who hardly have any scenes.
