The book was way too long.
Aaron went from inexplicably broody to unbelievably charming and completely changed personalities by the end of the book - a Gary Stu if I ever saw one.
In such a long a huge, slow book, somehow the final conflict felt rushed.
None of the challenges to the couple felt believable - they weren't really enemies, I wasn't really expecting her family to find out, I didn't for a moment think there were going to be any repercussions at their job - in which both act unprofessionaly to the point of disbelief.
The secondary cast is one-dimensional and doesn't serve any point besides cheering for the couple or being despicable.
The tension is good, however, and some scenes are really adorable. But by the end of the book (sick father past the 90% mark, really?) what were once cute declarations of love felt way too saccharine.
I was expecting to like it way more, but it ends up going nowhere.

While the writing and the pace of the book make you want to keep reading until you are done with it, the excitement about the premise of the book fades towards the end. There are no consequences - worse, there are no stakes. It also fed of tropes with no effort to disrupt any of them - the pretty, bratty sister; the ugly older sister who cares for everyone like a modern-day Cinderella; the monstrous father; the incapable mother; the shallow, shallow men...
While it was a fun, quick read, it felt flat. Also, as a lot of people have pointed out, it's absolutely not a thriller.
