A slow burn that was way too quick! Had potential to be so much more detailed in character development. A shame it was so short. A fabulous quick ear bud nibble.

Ok, overall I loved this duology. These 2 books are definitely a recommendation for an audio read. I did, in my humble opinion, find the 2nd book a little drawn out. I had all these thoughts running through my head about what was going to happen, who stole what and who found what, but they didn’t pan out the way my feeble brain was working. The epilogue from Becker’s POV was a great way to end the series.

I also found those little “Easter Eggs” of things to come in JEM future books endearing. Such as little key words and passing ideas that I have found front and centre in her later work. Finding this things makes me smile and wonder if things were ticking away in her mind subconsciously.

Well worth the audio read.

OMG what was not to love about this book. It had everything! Slow burn, banter, wit which leads to a wonderful story. A fun and delightful read. A definite JEM sleeper that is worth looking at on your TBR pile. So get to it.

Becker Boy is wonderfully delicious 🍏 and Eleanor Princess 👑 is a delightful red headed, button pushing, spitfire. Both characters complemented themselves and in typical JEM fashion, the sparks sure did fly. So sit back, shhhh the world and enjoy this story. Winston 🐕,  Lucy, Mrs Potts and Mr H were also a wonderful addition that simply added to story. Yes, it’s a duology, so expect a cliffhanger ending.

📚  STORYLINE 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 😘

While this is a separate series, it is clear that the main female character is from other books. This however does not interfere with this series. And interesting plot line that had elements from many books from similar genres. This however does not affect the story.

While I enjoyed this book, it was not a book that swirled wildly around in my head, wanting me to gorge myself on it. Both main characters had “issues” that is clear, but they haven’t really enamoured themselves to the reader at this stage.

And yes, the story ends on the most cliche cliffhanger ever.

Both narrators do a wonderful job which makes this audio book a good ear bud nibble. A shame the storyline execution lacks the depth.

📚  STORYLINE 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 😘

Storyline is quick earbud nibble - very Insta-lust, which can affect the reader becoming enamoured with the characters. A shame really, as both characters had the chance to endear themselves further within the story. This therefore affected the various intimate scenes as the reader is not as invested with the characters as they should be.  A shame. This book had all the potential, just lacked the plot exploration.

🎤 NARRATED BY 🎤Shane East, Lee Ellis, Evelyn Rose, Stella Hunter, John Hartley

Shane and John’s voices were distinct and simply brilliant - they ARE Danny and James. Lee Ellis made for a great Brad, but his rendition of Danny and James did not do it for me. Evelyn Rose as Pearl was fantastic. A shame Vanessa was not available for Rose, however Stella Hunter filled those shoes seamlessly.

ARTICULATION  - clean and clear - expect for some of Brad’s chapters. Some words when doing Danny and James were a little indistinguishable at times.
BREATHING – controlled, volume, consistent, project appropriate, low mouth noise

Now, this was a brilliant wrap up. I loved Brad in this book. He definitely worked his way into book boyfriend status through this story. From man whore to SO much more - swoon worthy. The way all the loose ends seamlessly wrapped together into a neat little bow, the way we got glimpses of everything and everyone so nothing was left to chance, perfection. The 3 epilogues was a glorious touch and made for such a satisfying ending. It was pleasure to walk through these this stories with these boys, a blast.

While we treated to Danny and Rose (OMG they are a scream), James and Beau were also present albeit a too brief touch on their personal lives. Beau . . . you definitively claimed your bad ass status. A brilliant touch.

Within this audio version, I would have loved seeing the chapters named with the characters as they were in the previous books. It really did help as an audio book.

Lee Ellis did a stella performance for Brad however, I did find his characterisations for Danny and James a little grating. Some enunciation issues such as Fury sounded like Furry (But how can anyone compete with Shane East or John Hartley’s perfection)

Thanks JEM for ANOTHER brilliant series. Your attention to detail in both characterisations and plot development was exquisite in this series. Each story built on each other, the narration was sublime which made for a wonderful experience into the lives of these Unlawful Men.

Over and out.
