Ward No. 6 by Anton Chekhov
5.0
Such a good story - accomplishes alot in only about 30 pages.
Great critique of stoicism - i love his comparison of lawyers with their clients to farmers with the animals they slaughter and bleed out.
“I want to live, terribly! Terribly!”
So, so great. Really loved it. Great read for those who dont like taking life coldly or at a shoulders length and instead embrace the ups, the downs entirely and passionately

Weird pedophilic moment just for a split second. Pointless story
Ariadne by Anton Chekhov

You can see Chekhovs more liberal approach to women and their rights and positions in society compared to most Russian writers at that time.

“I love you! I love you so much that I’ve gone off the rails, thrown up my work, given up my friends, forgotten my God. Never in my life have I been so much in love!”
Lady with Lapdog and Other Stories by Anton Chekhov

The lady and the lapdog story was only two stars - bit of a pointless story without principle but the rest of the book is WELL WORTH the read!!!
