Wonderland by Jennifer Hillier

I listened to this one on Audible.
I really enjoyed this story, twisty and creepy. There are enough creepy wonder workers to give you multiple suspects. Just enough characters to keep you guessing who is responsible for all these boys going missing and the dead body that turns up.
This gave me 90s vibes but I'm not even sure why. The narrator did a great job, this is my second by this author and it's safe to say I will be reading more Jennifer Hillier.

This one is a No for me. Luke is the most confusing character, the way he acts does not match the things he says. It's only 60 pages but that's 60 pages I could have read in a different book.
Cruel Winter with You by Ali Hazelwood

It's ok, a short, second chance romance. It's sweet. They are snowed in. He's the little brother of her best friend. The miscommunication trope shows it's face in this one and once that's resolved, it abruptly ends.
Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret: A Festive Mystery by Benjamin Stevenson

I really enjoy Ernest Cunningham. I hope this series continues.
Did I figure out all the clues? No.
Did I have a solid guess but wasn't sure why? Yep.
That's the fun of a good mystery, I wish this one had been longer but it didn't feel rushed. It was fun a minimally Christmas themed. The first in the series continues to be my favorite but I will continue to read any book with Ernest Cunningham as the "detective"

I listened to this one on Audible.
I enjoyed the story. I love a dual POV and 2 narrators. But yes they do the lil voice for the others voice that I find irritating in dual POV books. If you have 2 narrators can you just do it proper please!
Something about the banter and dirty talk just didn't do it for me, it was off it didn't give me the ick but something wasn't right.

I don't think I have rated a book 4 ⭐️ when I disliked all the main characters before.
The pace and the story captivated me from the start, I read this one quickly in 2 sittings.
I was suspicious of Carl from the start but I couldn't put my finger on why. Patrick came across as a douche bag and main character Allison was unlikely. Yet somehow I still very much enjoyed this story.

The House on Cold Hill by Peter James

So creepy, I love a good ghost story.
It gave me The Shinning vibes but very different. The house is clearly haunted and yet they don't leave... at first this could be explained away but after multiple unexplainable events any normal person would have been out of there.
I didn't find it fast-paced but I did find myself reading it quickly. And holding my hand over the next page so I wouldn't skip ahead.
I enjoyed this spooky story but wish it wrapped up a little better.

This is a rare example of the 2nd is better than the 1st. I am really enjoying this story. Vampire Lu is the badass we all need.
This one picks up about a month after the first. It is fast paced enough that I just kept wanting to read it. So much going on between the Shadow Realm, the Living realm and the Light Realm. More characters are introduced, leading to more questions of who can we trust?
Ashen and Lu are the definition of enemies to lovers and I am loving every minute!

I enjoyed this one more than the first of the series, but how are these guys falling in love with these women so quickly?
I enjoyed Elena's story. She wasn't meek or a pushover but still found herself needing to be saved. Atlas is the tall handsome and mysterious stranger who would grab anyone's attention and Lorne is king of the douchebags.
It has a creepy gothic vibe that I enjoyed, the I'm going to call it "hypothetical" love triangle added an element of danger but all is want to do now is visit this fictional town for Halloween.

The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco by Michelle Chouinard

I listened to this one on Audible. It was a fun mystery and made me want to take a tour in San Francisco.
I really enjoyed the back and forth of the present mystery and the researching the truth about the past.
The narrator does a great job with this one. I really enjoyed the side characters and the twists. Some points were predictable but I'm not mad at it and it didn't keep me from enjoying the story.
I want to call this one a light hearted murder mystery, is that a genre?
