Savor It by Tarah DeWitt
5.0
5 stars - I need a physical copy to embrace NOW.
Thank you Net Galley, Tarah, and all the powers that be for this flash drop online.
I’ll keep it brief to avoid spoilers. Tarah did it again. Her writing is drop dead gorgeous. It is clean, precise, fluid, and eloquent. The plot flows without a hitch. The characters and setting are developed, realistic and relatable - to the point that they feel tangible. This book had me in love with Sage, Fisher, Indy, and all the farm critters. I could picture the sunsets and feel the breeze. Spunes feels like a home away from home. I need a plane ticket, now.
My heart is full. Another Tarah Dewitt novel that is tattooed on the heart forever.

The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros
5.0
I have had such a wonderful emotional experience reading this book. So I am going to try to provide an objective review so here we go - buckle up and thank you if you stay with me. *My initial emotional response will be at the end*
Story response: This book is creative, quick, addicting, and emotional. I would describe it as Emily Henry’s Book Lovers meets Nicholas Sparks and has a drizzle of Divine Rivals. We have two storylines - one love story taking place during WW2 in a love at first sight setting. The second is stateside during the modern era in a begrudged coworkers to lovers trope. We have two couples that burn with a love that makes you want to cuddle up with gratitude and stillness. The way that Rebecca weaved these two stories together into one beautiful novel, of course with a RY plot twist, has just left me in awe of her. I have tears in my eyes, but I’m not numb; I’m wonderstruck!
Emotional response: Alright…I have only read two of Yarros’s books…but one of them I read three times so I feel comfortable saying - SHE IS THE QUEEN OF PLOT TWISTS. Rarely does a plot twist truly surprise me. I am clearly BESIDE myself after finishing this book. Rebecca’s writing produces pure and raw emotion through an addicting plot. I also feel like Rebecca’s middle name is MISCHIEF as she twiddles her fingers and says “how can I mess with the readers today and rip their heart out?”

*Unpopular opinion review* ADDENDUM: Also, this has nothing to do with Nesta and her trauma. I mourn for her pain and will always defend the vulnerable. It's just the book for me.
Nothing personal, but thiiiiis was not my favorite. In fact it is my least favorite by SJM. I am trying to separate my personal reaction about this book from the book itself. While I honor and respect the mental health rep in this book, it felt very dragged out and very painful. That may have been the point - to feel Nesta’s pain. But to me,iIt felt unorganized and chaotic, and caps lock BROODY. I almost wonder if it would have been better in a multiple POV book to feel less…opaque? I do acknowledge that all of my complaints about this book are because I literally felt depressed while reading it. Again, while that may have been the point, that is not why I read. I read to help me through depression, not to feel stuck in it.
ANYWAYS, Nesta losing her powers didn’t bother me as much as it may have other readers - I felt like she needed to give of herself in order to save her family after all they have done to save and protect her - don’t forget about Feyre literally keeping her alive in the human realm.
I’ll give it another shot in a few years but HOOF I am bummed.
Jan 24 re-read: Upgraded to 2.75 stars for the foreshadowing for CC3. Without CC this would be 1 star for me.
