*Unpopular opinion review* ADDENDUM: Also, this has nothing to do with Nesta and her trauma. I mourn for her pain and will always defend the vulnerable. It's just the book for me.

Nothing personal, but thiiiiis was not my favorite. In fact it is my least favorite by SJM. I am trying to separate my personal reaction about this book from the book itself. While I honor and respect the mental health rep in this book, it felt very dragged out and very painful. That may have been the point - to feel Nesta’s pain. But to me,iIt felt unorganized and chaotic, and caps lock BROODY. I almost wonder if it would have been better in a multiple POV book to feel less…opaque? I do acknowledge that all of my complaints about this book are because I literally felt depressed while reading it. Again, while that may have been the point, that is not why I read. I read to help me through depression, not to feel stuck in it.

ANYWAYS, Nesta losing her powers didn’t bother me as much as it may have other readers - I felt like she needed to give of herself in order to save her family after all they have done to save and protect her - don’t forget about Feyre literally keeping her alive in the human realm.

I’ll give it another shot in a few years but HOOF I am bummed.

Jan 24 re-read: Upgraded to 2.75 stars for the foreshadowing for CC3. Without CC this would be 1 star for me.
