“How wondrous it is to do something so simple as to sit in a warm kitchen at Christmas, surrounded by people I love as the snow swirls like a waltz outside.”

“And I just need to look at the man walking by my side to remember that even if it doesn’t go exactly to plan, fate has a way of working things out in the end.”

I really enjoyed Molly and Andrew‘s story! The 10 year slow burn was done perfectly in my opinion. once they finally made it out of the airport, my personal stress levels went down a ton and I could really enjoy their story on a deeper level. The writing pace was slower than I am used to, but I honestly loved it. It made me appreciate the plot a lot more and also made the story more realistic. I love the Ireland backdrop. I also really appreciate the conversation in the car with Christian. I thought it was really wise and I really appreciated how short the third act break up was because we all know that’s annoying.

The only thing that almost made me give it 4.5 but I changed my mind was the whole food lover thing came out of nowhere. In my opinion it’s possible I totally zoned out at part and missed it but I just feel like that was a random drop.

This was my favorite of the series! Not necessarily because the writing or plot was better. It was the same. I just personally enjoyed these characters and tropes more.

3.75 rounded up!!!

The beginning of this book had me in a chokehold of tension and pining. Jillian Meadows knows how to write a slow-burn filled with tension. T
The ending was definitely cute and cozy and I’m happy. But I wouldve appreciated a plot B in addition to the romance arc.

Cute, funny, feel-good hockey holiday romance! I appreciate how the multiple plot lines weaved together, how protective Seb was, and the epilogue

3.75 stars, rounded up! For a debut novel, I think this is phenomenal and wonderful. I loved Luka and Lala’s (I love this nick name) relationship so much! This was a unique take on friends to lovers x fake dating. I was expecting the usual formula and pacing; this was not that. I was pleasantly surprised by the pacing and plot twists. Parts of this were 5 stars hands down: the imagery, the attraction, Beckett, the farm.

However, there were some big things that seemed obvious to me that I was getting pretty frustrated with that I just cannot let go.
1. It felt kinda insta-lovey to me.
2. Did they really not think the influencer would find out they just started dating?
3. It was never mentioned how they would fake Luka being a part-owner.
4. It seemed like the influencer was going to be plot B. But she didnt show up until ~ page 190/300.

I wanted to give this 5 stars so badly but these things are just eating at me. BUT, I still loved it and will probably re-read eventually and definitely continue with the series.

*Finished this book 12/26*
Beautiful, stunning, I’m in love! Beautiful writing, heart wrenching message. Read between the tears. I had to re-shelf this earlier in the year because it was too emotional for me. I am so glad I finished this.

1 hour later: just putting it out there.

Original review: Binged this book. Because of that I feel like I missed a lot. But that’s how I choose to live my life, so no regrets. Going to hold off on giving a rating and review until I reread this at some point. I have a lot of thoughts.

*Mild Spoilers*

3.75 rounded upGreat sequel! Going into IF I was scared it would flop, expecting serious emotions, and assuming a cliffhanger. Overall, I am so pleased with this book and excited for what is to come!

Pros:
More time with some lovely characters.
Some questions posed in book one were answered.
More foreshadowing for books to come.
Dain. I’m not sorry, I love Dain.
I highlighted every single thing Tairn said because he is so funny. He is definitely my favorite character.
So much happened.
I am truly excited for what Yarros does with the series (regarding how it ended).
Cons:
Really long.
It was so fast-paced and action packed that I had to take a lot of breaks. My brain felt fuzzy at parts and I skimmed the last 10% because I was stressed.
I really want Violet to grow up more. She definitely grew A LOT, but was still very young at times.
I am not a huge fan of “this whole country can burn if it means you will survive.” REALLY? Come on now…
Also, Violet’s “you lied to me” bit really annoyed me. We get it. Youre hurt. Its a war babe, move on.
Neutral:
I saw a lot of “pulls” from other fantasy worlds. I don’t find this wrong or bad because even Tolkein said that this is an inevitable part of fantasy writing, so the haters seriously need to calm down, meditate, and go to therapy.
I didn’t cry at the ending nor was I scandalized. I think it was unexpected, creative, and I am so excited for what is to come!
Some Quotes:
Every single thing that Tairn says. Particularly when he growls “adolescents…”
“Violence, remember it's only the body that's fragile. You are unbreakable.”
“Secrets make for poor leverage. They die with the people who keep them.”
“We are the weapons, and this place is the stone they use to sharpen us.”
“As complicated as our connection is, it’s also undeniably simple. He’s the horizon, and nothing exists beyond for me.”
“If Solas comes near you again, he knows I will devour his human whole and let him rot within me while his heart still beats, and then I’ll take the eye I so graciously left him.”
