I wish everyone who had a social media account would read this book. Insightful and humorous, I kept wanting to share quotes with friends or (predictably) post them online but I'll refrain and just encourage others to read it. A fantastic analysis of what social media is and isn't capable of.
A fast paced book of a beautiful friendship. Women supporting women is always a win for me. I only wish there were an audiobook of Loretta Lynn reading it, but I could hear her voice in my head as I was reading the text!
Ronnie Spector is a legend and also a queen of the "I can fix him" mentality in her younger years with Phil Spector. I'm glad she was able to break free and get on with her life.
Hanna has been a lifelong inspiration for me, and this book just affirmed that. This memoir touches on her tumultuous upbringing, her discovery of the DIY punk scene, her adventures as the front woman of an underground band with a passionate following, and beyond. I loved how she spoke honestly about her imperfect feminism and the things she'd do differently as far as being more aware of her own white privilege and taking action to make BIPOC folks feel welcome in her various scenes.
Fantastic deconstruction of how the corporate elite work to rob the common folk of everything after disasters both natural and man-made. This has changed the way I look at the world which is the highest honor I can bestow a book. While it does deal with a lot of terrible actions and behaviors, it is ultimately a hopeful book about the power of the people to resist and repair their own communities after massive shocks.
