I love a biography and I understand that sometimes biographers can only go by who's willing to speak to them. I feel like the research was well done, but the people closest to Natalie that were willing to talk definitely make up most of the narrative in the last half of the book.

Everything I read by Thich Nhat Hanh is so wonderful and deceptively simple. Easily accessible by everyone but also talking about deep, complex subjects.

Entertaining although some of it doesn't hold up as it did when it was written (i.e. talking about Britney's "blink once if you're ok, twice if you need help" line in light of her abusive conservatorship) but a lot of that is based on information we now know that wasn't known at the time.
I did enjoy the book and the premise and would recommend it for anyone who feels like they may think too deeply about pop music.

This book was long but Moore's writing style meant that I felt like I was flying through it. Great book for anyone interested in the history of mental health treatment in the US and/or badass women historical figures.

I love Mary Roach. She's very funny and her footnotes are the best. Few writers make me literally lol but she is one who consistently does.

This book got really raw about the emotions that come with a cancer diagnosis, which I appreciate. Gilda tried to stay positive but sometimes when shit sucks we humans act in less than ideal ways and I'm glad she shared that part of her story. An incredible talent gone way too soon.

Look, if you want a juicy memoir filled with lots of messy action then this is the book for you. I wasn't necessarily a fan prior to reading but she is nothing if not intriguing and I'd heard her book was a ride. And it was. I really have a soft spot for women who take things that are supposed to "ruin" them and turn it to their advantage. I listened to the audiobook, which I prefer if the memoir/autobiography writer is the one reading it. This bitch has been through it and is tough as nails. Three cheers for surviving and (hopefully now) thriving after all the trauma, abuse, and addiction.
Every time she talked about running the hair dryer to drown out noise/fighting/yelling, I just wanted to go back in time and give her some earphones or earbuds.
I'm not even going to attempt to list all the content warnings, please read through them though if there are subjects that affect you because there's a lot of abuse, addiction, abandonment, drug use.

Essential reading for any Western leftist or otherwise curious individual trying to make sense of wth is happening in our culture. I love the connections Klein makes between issues and phenomena.
