i loved this so much! very predictable, but veryyy cutesy

thoughts while reading

23%: one day this dude is gonna slip up and ask wyn a would you rather, and she’ll know he’s hayes
25%: GIRL do not throw your manky shoe in the pool

I'd rather work to love the way it looks than work to change the way it looks, which is often fruitless effort anyway.

i loved this, thank you SimonTeen for making this one of your december free reads! literally the only thing that could have enhanced my reading experience any more would have been to have longer than 24h to finish it (but that’s the fun, and challenge of it, so it’s ok).

thoughts while reading

10%: yeah maybe trust the girl who’s lived this reality all her life. i think she’d know when something’s dislocated

Quotes

these stuck out to me because of my own mental health struggles

I wanted to see you one last time to say goodbye. I love you, but I'm sick. I'm falling apart piece by piece. And I think the only thing worse than having it happen in the first place is making you watch.
i feel so down and broken sometimes that i wonder whether it’s fair to burden others with my feelings

I did this to myself, and the thing that no one ever tells you about digging your own grave is that you're never meant to climb back out.
i struggle with letting people in, and letting them help me. i back myself into a corner, and can’t escape all that easily

It's not that I don't want to be alive anymore—it's that I don't know how to live the life I have.
relatable, i feel like a ship with no anchor sometimes

i’d never heard of the romanov’s before so this was very interesting! i have a lot to research

thoughts while reading

2%: ah, isn’t lenin one of the dictators?
24%: completely random and slightly inappropriate thought—if this was a mainstream historical romantasy zach would eventually discover the doll when he succumbs and rips her clothes off
28%: it seems a kind word does indeed turn away wrath
40%: which is sadly not going to work
42%: all i can say is zash better not be faking
44%: ah merde
46%: zash is either hiding in the building or he’ll come back with the white army
52%: potential plot twist, what if the bolshevik is right?
53%: um…WHAT
