Codependency Dating someone should not be the fix to all your problems. No dick is that good that it can solve all your trauma. Too many convenient coincidences. Also not that well written
Two days later I drove past Archer's house on my way back from lying on the small lake beach and his gate was slightly open. A thrill shot down my spine as I got off my bike.
Seriously, did no one edit this (this isn’t the only mistake) Your whole world shouldn’t stop because your significant other isn’t responding to your texts. Archer was right to separate himself from her and experience the world. Also Bree treats Arch like her child not her boyfriend which is gross/ unhealthy/ unattractive. I actually like Travis he perfectly fills out the douchbag small town ladies man with no out of character behaviour. Ngl I was kind of disappointed that archer didn’t die, it would have been an interesting plot point I don’t like Bree Even the spelling of her name pisses me off
A couple plot holes How did her dad’s killer know where to find her? The inheritance of the town is so confusing is archer wasn’t known to be Connor’s son and the town was supposed to go to the first born son it would’ve gone to travis not Victoria Hale. Did Archer really just sit in the house spending his uncle’s money and leaving any marketable skills (not even like sculpting etc.? Did he go to school (I don’t remember it being mentioned)? Also NO ONE CHECKED ON HIM (except his uncle OR CARED ABOUT HIM UNTIL BREE CAME ALONG
‘I’m an unspeakable of the Oscar Wilde sort.’ Possibly of my favourite classics. It’s nice to read an LGBTQIA classic that doesn’t involve people dying, or meeting some other incredibly tragic end. I would definitely read it a second time. I would recommend.
I suggest this book to anyone interested in pursuing pharmacy or pharmacology. A-level biology + Chemistry knowledge. I found it surprising easy to understand how drugs work. Actually quite fascinating if it was anymore informative it would be a textbook.
I liked the beginning of the book a lot more than the end. Lord Henry Wotton is my favourite his insights are very interesting I like Basil too he didn’t deserve to need killed :( lots of unexpected plot points. the ending was okay justice for James Vane if only he shot Dorian when he had the chance . .I wish James was the one to stab him with the knife that was previously used to kill Basil
Reading this book made me realise that I’m a lesbian Regardless her drilling in his stone wall without asking permission so she have the TV mounted on the wall, is so disrespectful. Lynsey is unlikeable in bad way she just annoying. Also she is way too invasive with Josh’s past, and psychoanalysing him is just unhealthy. If he doesn’t wanna talk a something deeply personal and traumatic to him he doesn’t have to Lyndsey isn’t his therapist breeding kink is kinda weird but each to their own
I fully understand why they call this book one of the best books ever written. Before reading this book, I did not realise that it was the one of the longest books ever written. It took me three months to finish. I even had to completely re-read the first part because I didn’t understand it the first time, but then after that I was basically hooked. However there are many characters and it’s easy to get them confused especially since there are 3 guys called Alexander. I would go in depth about each of the main characters but there are simply to many. If you want a modern day comparison, it’s kind of like reading Bridgerton (I’ve only watched the show) or reign but more dramatic. I am still yet to watch the Anna Karenina movie, but I will soon just to see how they depict such a deeply complex story. The only part that annoyed me was There were a few plot points that I felt weren’t fully completed. Like how did her husband and son react to her suicide???!?! This was heavily glossed over and instead replaced by Levin Constantine Dmitrich (Kostya)’s drawn out Monologue about Christianity
The whole time I read it I felt I was missing something Why did she kill herself? How exactly did her dad die? When did she start feeling depressed or was she depressed the whole time? Was her depression exacerbated by her rejection from the writing course? Because I genuinely couldn’t tell The motivation behind the course of events was lost on me. Esther greenwood is very unlikeable She kicks a black member of staff for serving two types of beans “The negro was just trying to see how much we would take.“ Sylvia Plath is just racist Chinese is used a metaphor for ugly & a black person characterised like a minstrel show. This book was written in the height of the civil rights movement
