This story was so darn cute. Dracula and the SM Influencer. The premise alone is great and this was so well executed. The story was hilarious and boy was she a spicy one. I got this as an ARC and I’ve already got my hard copy on order. I’m so excited for the next book in the series and this JUST released today.

This was the March book club book. I didn’t want to read it, but I had heard good things about the book and the author. I was really hesitant to give this anything over 3 stars. I thought the writing was lazy and overall not really good. I spent most of this book angry at every character. Eve for being just a genuine bitch, Nate for being a giant creep, even Addie, though I mostly felt bad for her.

Holy shit though. The twists and turns and the EPILOGUE.

I probably won’t read another Freida McFadden book unless it’s picked for Book Club again, but man that kept me screaming at the end.

refreshing

I needed a good enemies to lovers cowboy romance to cleanse my palate. This was perfect and I think I might just dive right into the next one. I was obsessed with the Chesnut Springs series, and I didn’t realize until book four that there was a whole series prior. We’ll see if I keep going on this series or start one of the other books I’ve been meaning to read..

One Big Happy Family by Susan Mallery

The story follows the perspective of three women.

Julie (54, divorced, mother of two adult children) is dating a man twelve years her junior(with two much younger children of his own) and has complicated feelings on the matter.

Dana, Julie’s younger child, is recovering from repeated heartbreak by one of Julie’s best employees.

Blair, Julie’s daughter-in-law is struggling with her mother moving to be closer to her, despite them never having had a relationship.

Despite the original Christmas plan being that Julie and her new beau would spend the holidays together, her kids decide they want to have a big family Christmas in memory of their father who died earlier that year. With the whole family and a few surprise guests, the holidays turn to chaos.

The story itself is decent and I wanted to know what was going to happen. That said, I knew what was going to happen; this book was incredibly predictable. The dialogue was painfully robotic, almost as though it was written by AI.

I’m not sure I was the correct audience for this book, despite loving the cover and the blurb. I was expecting a little spice from other reviews, but that wasn’t delivered. A lot of talk about sex having happened, but nothing really open door.

absolutely spectacular

I read the first book last month and I absolutely adored it. I never realized that Queer Regency Romance was a genre I needed until I found it.

This book and the previous are especially wonderful because they go beyond gay and lesbian relationships, but feature a gay man, demisexual man, an aromantic woman, and two nonbinary people.

First book I read in a couple weeks and damn did it deliver. This was advertised as Black Harry Potter and I’ve gotta say, LaDarrion outdid that racist, transphobic B by a hundred miles. Mystery + Magic and it’s unapologetically black. I loved every minute of this book. I listened to the audiobook version and it was SO good. I loved that this book brought in a lot of hoodoo legends and it portrayed teenagers as teenagers. I cannot wait for the next book. At least I’m hoping there’s a next book.

So I watched the movie this weekend after seeing ads all over fb and tt. I was mostly confused and had to read the book (after reading the OG trilogy). I loved the HG Easter eggs and the book really cleared up a LOT that made the movie confusing. In the movie you spend a lot of time sympathizing with Snow but it never really makes sense that he ends up a fascist. The book shows what a vein and suspicious person he is. I listened to the audiobook and would not recommend that format. The narrator is not good.

Holy shit. I loved B&B but man L&L was something else. Brynne killed it ;) this was equal parts hot, heartbreaking, and hilarious. I giggled so much listening to the audiobook which I 100% recommend. Is it time for book 3 yet?? Tropes: Enemies to Lovers & Marriage of Convenience

I needed something to read on my flight home from Maine, and this had been on my tbr for a while. Katee never fails to please. Sapphic pirates in a second chance romance? Yes please. This little novella was equal parts sweet and sexy.

I’m so glad I chose to use my extended 4th of July holiday to catch up on some reading goals. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a bit of a Katee Robert stan - and Enemies to Lovers is by far my favorite trope. This book was IT. I loved the little allusions to “To Kidnap a Princess” and the mention of Bargainer Demons. Few things bring me more joy than when series intertwine.
