Make Me by Tessa Bailey

First Offical Read of 2024(not including the monster romance I finished at 2 AM on 1/1/24)

Third in the series, it didn’t really live up to the first two. Abby was flat and not as fun and funny as Roxy and Honey. Russell was overly possessive in a way that gave me the ick. I liked the first two in this series as well as Wreck the Halls, so I do know I enjoy Tessa’s writing. This just didn’t hit the same.

Not my thing.

I didn’t like this as much as the last one, but that’s mostly because it explores the lactation kink, which gives me big ick. No judgement if that’s your thing. I’ve always said I don’t have limits to the smut I read, but I think I’ve found mine.

Best of the bunch.

This is my favorite of the trilogy. Rhett is a grumpy butthead and dominant in the bedroom; Nora is funny as all get out and just cute as a button. Of the three books this is the fantasy I’d love to live out.

Adorable

It’s was cute. Very cute. This one felt a little rushed. And I don’t mean the story, though that could have used a little work. I mean, it feels like it was written in one sitting and had zero editing done other than a spell check. It just didn’t flow and on page 6, it is said that Tana’s dad is a lawyer and mom is a hedge fund manager; on page 106 it says her dad is a hedge fund manager.

However, I loved Tana. She was strong and funny. The sexy scenes were decent too.

wow

I genuinely did not expect to love this book as much as I did. I was just like alright, hot tattooed guy, I’m in. Holy shit. Such a good, heartbreaking(and warming) story. The spice was spicy as heck, but the characters and their relationship outshone the sex altogether.

holy buckets

I’ve never wanted to read Colleen Hoover. Nothing against her specifically other than she’s trendy and I avoid trendy media. Don’t ask; I don’t get it either. I refused to watch Schitt’s Creek for years. I cannot tell you how mad I was when I finally watched it and fell in love in the first episode.

This was the first book chosen for a new book club I joined, and I’m so glad for it. I Such a good story that made me feel things. My bestie said I would cry, but I didn’t… but if I’m behind honest, I definitely could have cried if I read this when my hormones were more elevated.

Good story.

I saw a video about this book on TikTok and was excited to read it.

I don’t typically read military style fiction, but it was recommended for fans of Fourth Wing, which I enjoyed; therefore it was a little harder for me to keep focused while reading. It was still a very good story, with a complex set of characters and themes (not to mention one very well written sex scene). I’m excited for the second half of the duology.

reviews are a bit harsh

This book and books like it are why i don’t read reviews until I’ve at least read some of it. Was this the best book, I’ve ever read? No, but I enjoyed it. I can understand some of the criticisms, and it could use a few edits(typos and such) but the story itself was good and the spice was spicy. Anywho… I liked it and I plan to read the second one because that cliffhanger was just rude.

Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus. I have been waiting for this book for what feels like a hundred years and I mean, I haven’t yet met a Katee Robert book I don’t like.

The only problem now is that I have to wait another hundred years for Dark Restraint. I do not understand why this particular author insists on torturing me like thjs.
