I loved this so much. This read was a reread and I loved it just as much as the first time, if not more. It’s filled with foreshadowing that’s hard to miss if you don’t know the ending.
This was amazing. Don’t be fooled by the other reviews, this book is marketed as snapshots of Gambit’s life, not as a linear story. Do your research before reading books like this and you won’t be disappointed. I think Gambit is my new favorite character of Marvel. He is such a complex character.
This was an amazing start to the series. I can’t wait to read the next book. Be warned that there are some spicy sex scenes in this. Be sure to read the trigger warnings listed on the authors site and on Amazon.

Overall, I really enjoyed this dark fantasy romance. I would rate the spice a 3/5; it wasn’t erotica, but it was still sexy and spicy. I wish the enemies part of enemies to lovers lasted a bit longer between Ciaran and Etain. There are fated mates in this novel, so I do kind of understand why it was so fast. Etain grasps her powers almost instantly when it usually takes years to do so. that is the only thing I didn’t like. The banter between Etain and Ciaran and between Anin and Kes. I'm a big fan of banter, especially in enemiesto lovers. Some parts of the book were a bit predictabl, however, it was done well so I won’t complain. I came for the spice and I stayed for the plot. I can’t wait until the next book of the series comes out as this one ended on a major cliffhanger. Warning: this book contains attempted rape, gore, murder, and sex.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the sequel to spears and shadows. Instead of being told in Nora and Adam’s POV, this was told in Odelle and Antony’s POV. At first I did not know how to feel about that, but it grew on me and I came to like it. One drawback is that there is a side plot of the miscommunication trope that takes up about half the book. However, it is done in a good way and does not detract from the story. This book has some adult content such as swearing and sex. The sex scenes are a 1/5 for spiciness as they are more poetic than sexy and descriptive. I wish we got to see more of Antony’s POV in the modern day instead of just in the past. Overall, I liked the story and the characters. I did miss Nora and Adam as they were gone for most of the novel.

This is the first book in a 6 book series with a 6 book sister series so it has a ton of exposition in it. But other than that, I really liked this book.
This was a reread of the book. It was a pretty good smutty book. I liked the story and the smut. It had many parts that made me laugh. I will read more of this series.
