Overall, I really enjoyed this dark fantasy romance. I would rate the spice a 3/5; it wasn’t erotica, but it was still sexy and spicy. I wish the enemies part of enemies to lovers lasted a bit longer between Ciaran and Etain. There are fated mates in this novel, so I do kind of understand why it was so fast. Etain grasps her powers almost instantly when it usually takes years to do so. that is the only thing I didn’t like. The banter between Etain and Ciaran and between Anin and Kes. I'm a big fan of banter, especially in enemiesto lovers. Some parts of the book were a bit predictabl, however, it was done well so I won’t complain. I came for the spice and I stayed for the plot. I can’t wait until the next book of the series comes out as this one ended on a major cliffhanger. Warning: this book contains attempted rape, gore, murder, and sex.
Graphic: Cursing, Gore, Blood, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Torture, Violence, and Death of parent
Minor: Vomit
