i feel like this wasn’t as good as the first book? the plot was a lil slow and honestly i feel like not much happened in the book. also fallon was kind of annoying with her hatred towards lore and her sudden love she felt for him felt rushed. OVERALL it’s not a bad series. i might read the next one. we shall see.

What a mess of a book. While the first book wasn’t perfect, it was enjoyable. This one was not, I’m not even sure why I finished it because I got so annoyed. The main character of Fallon is one of the most unlikable “heroines” I’ve read in a long time. She is so immature, rude, hypocritical, selfish, and whiny. I don’t know that the male lead character sees in her. But they’re “mates” (yes that trope, it’s everywhere now but at least it wasn’t shoved down the reader’s throats here) so he overlooks every hideous thing about her and sees perfection. I liked him better as a crow. He’s still interesting but he’s lost a little bit of the mystery, and he’s also a bit too controlling for my taste. This book has no plot until about halfway through, some things began to finally happen. There were still too many characters and lands to keep up with, I can’t even picture in my mind the layout of these places and lands. I’m not sure I will continue the series, I only finished and gave two starts bc the plot finally picked up, and I enjoy a lot of the supporting characters. Have to wait a few days and see if it calls to me.

The way I screamed at the ending of this book and immediately went on a long winded rant to my friend, I loved loved loved this book and it became my whole personality for a wee minute.
I hate some people more
I hate some people a little less
I also love some people more
It's been an emotional ride for sure.

The emotional immaturity and impulsiveness of the main character still drives me crazy but this book was way better than so many middle books are in other series. I’m looking forward to the third!

Idk I want to like this story but Fallon was so annoying in the first half. Like was she just supposed to be obnoxious or not relatable? I liked Fallon in the first book but this second book it was hard to like her. I only really started to like her again after her and Lore "made up" but even the resolve was like day/night. I doubt I'll finish reading this series but the story was entertaining while it lasted
