I bet your wondering how I came up with 2.75 star rating, & boy I’ll tell y’a! Holden(our main character) is a real interesting guy. I think this book is a well written book about coming of age & innocence vs adulthood. There lots of imagery and theme throughout the book, but I didn’t enjoy read this book all that much.
My favorite part of the whole book, was when Holden talks about his paper of ancient Egypt that he wrote & his professor read aloud to him; then he sees the mummies in the museum at the end and quotes the phony paper he wrote up for literature class. Oof, Holden. Get a grip.

Holden is so melodramatic it’s hilarious, though I can’t say I agree that he would’ve killed John Lennon, sorry John Lennon’s murderer

I had to read this for English and it felt similar to Ballad of Snakes and Songbirds. Holden and Coriolanus have very similar psychological damage that you can only feel bad for them. You can tell Holden is so desperate for love and affection from anyone but keeps failing at his relationships.
