Great story about a teenager who views the world in black and white. I was amazed to find out the date of this book's first publication as it is still relevant and poignant in today's western society. I can see why schools have kids read this book. I would highly recommend it.

I had absolutely no idea what this book was about and went into it with little expectations and it was so funny and silly I absolutely loved it.
I really miss being a teenager sometimes.

Edit:
Now that I’ve been able to let the book sink in a bit, I realise its actually pretty sad. It’s funny because of how relatable it felt, and then I realised it’s sad because Holden was constantly being abandoned and let down by the adults in the book. He showed true emotion and affection only for his younger siblings - which were also my favourite parts of the book.

Phony bastard.

Read if only for the conversation with the cab driver about the ducks and fish in Central Park.

I think that I've read this book 10 years too late to be able to get close with Holden, although I understood his problems I already coped with similar ones.

Forgive me for waiting years to read this. I've seen other people's reviews and they're pretty split. I get that people don't like Holden, it's understandable. I felt sorry for him. When you think about the context in which the book was written and the time period, I get why it's considered a classic.
