Can’t say enough about how much I loved this book. I fell in love with so many character, and I felt a little heart broken to be separated from these characters and to never read more about them

This trilogy destroyed me wow.
Rich, historical setting ✓ Murder and mayhem ✓ A morally grey (I mean seriously morally grey) female lead ✓ Brilliant LGBT+ representation ✓ Thoughtful discussions of Christianity and Islam ✓ Plot twists that come out of nowhere ✓ Moments that will make you laugh and cry ✓
This is by far one of the best YA series I've ever read. The only thing is that the ending was a bit disappointing in my opinion. Otherwise this book would be an easy five stars. I just wanted more! But it was the last book so there we go, I'm just in denial. I guess I need to get over it 😭💔

I am actually quite sad how this story ended even though I find the ending perfect. It just makes me sad of what could have been. I will definitely miss Rada, Lada, and even the annoying Mehmed, their friendship and they just being completely stupid to each other, why did they have to make everything so difficult for each other?! This was perfect solid series though.

screw everyone who underestimated lada and her merry band of bros
screw everyone who tried to shape radu into someone he wasn’t
screw everyone who doesn’t understand how important a muslim LGBTQ+ main character is to so many people
especially when that character gets the ending they wanted

I went into this series with zero expectations and now it's one of my favorites of all time!
I don't know how Kiersten White did it, but I fell deeply in love with all of these characters.
This last book took over my life and I read it within 24 hours, which I never do!
I would absolutely recommend this series if you like character-focused stories with lots of political intrigue and strategy discussions (...I also love how Lada says FU to all strategy and shocks everyone with her actions in this book...).
There's so much more I could say but I'm too emotionally drained to do that right now! Just read it :)

I never wanted this series to end. I'm still in mourning and I wish there was more. If only this series was Throne of Glass status and had more books! I need more, but I guess I'll just have to settle with researching the Ottoman empire and Vlad the Impaler to satisfy my needs.
I know I've said this twice before, but if you like historical fiction and strong female characters then you need to read this book. Or, you should read the first two books in the series first and then read this one. Read them all!
This series has made me so excited to read more of Kiersten White's books and it has inspired me to read more historical fiction. I'm normally so picky about historical fiction, but I was wary about And I Darken in the beginning too. I was obviously proven wrong.
In case I haven't said it enough already: I love this book!

This series is as strong and fierce as the main character, and I have so much love for it. Kiersten White's retellings are something truly special and I am delighted to read her work every time.
