A book of obnoxious people (that it tells you it will be), but it also took forever to get on to the murder and then was suddenly just done. I had higher hopes for this.

I listened to the audio of this book as a pallet cleanser for what I usually read/listen to but it was so JUICY. It definitely gave everyone’s lives are falling apart but we need to pretend everything is perfect so no body thinks otherwise vibes to perfection. The true Desi American experience. This book developed the various narrators perfectly and I couldn’t stop myself from wanting to know more about each and every single character.

no rating cause even though it wasn’t for me does not necessarily mean it’s a bad book.

I had high hopes for this book, but it just fell flat. The ending was unrealistic and abrupt. I also didn’t feel like there was much character development.

This was a DNF for me. I got about 20% in none of the characters were like able so it was hard for me to get invested.

A bit slow to start, but by 50 pages in I was hungrily hate-reading it, desperate for the protagonists to get their come-uppance. In tone and subject, very similar to the 2022 film The Menu, starring Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult.
