I read this when i was in 5th grade because I was obsessed with Gone With the Wind. So thinking back...I think I remember liking it, not loving it.

No fue un buen libro, pero fue un fanfic entretenido.

Not everyone's favorite, but it's official GWTW fanfic. I can't help myself - I love it. :D

The way Gone with the Wind should have ended. Perfect. A must-read if you've either seen the movie or have read Gone with the Wind. Words cannot express the love and joy I felt after reading this book :)

not nearly as good as gone with the wind. and i have to say, i think alexandra ripley doesn't catch scarlett's true spirit. all of a sudden she's loving and kind. but what happened to ruthless, bitchy scarlett? and at the end, rhett tells her they're "wandering souls" or some bullshit like that. well what happened to that huge fight in [b:gone with the wind|18405|Gone With The Wind|Margaret Mitchell|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1166913011s/18405.jpg|3358283] to save the plantation? i don't buy it.

I loved it, but because it *wasn't* GWTW. Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the original, but spinning off into a new direction (don't want to give spoilers, but it's not the end of the world to know she ends up in Ireland for a while, is it?) was a good choice. I always wanted to know more about Scarlett's Irish roots and I like how Ripley fleshed them out.
I read GWTW about...oh, 9 years ago or so, which may account for my forgiveness of the sequel compared to some people's hatred. But, when you take this in hand with "Rhett Butler's People" by Donald McCaig (which I read before Scarlett), it all comes together. Maybe that's why I'm so forgiving; I'd already accepted another author's take on Mitchell's work.
Go into it with a clear mind that you're not reading Margaret Mitchell, but you're reading what is quite possibly the best fan fiction ever written. Then go read "Rhett Butler's People" because you'll want more after this.

Read like a cheap romance novel. I did not enjoy it at all. I hate that is has "Gone With The Wind" so prominently on the cover!

This was a good yarn, and the author obviously adored and was paying homage to Gone With The Wind. However, I think she took some fanciful liberties with the time period; there are some things that were simply not believable. But still, a good yarn.

Very good! Keep in mind it's by a different author, but I enjoyed it!

Ok so I had read all these horrible reviews and I admit it wasn't as good as the first one but come on it was written by different people and the feel is different. However, I loved it. I think that the progression of characters were true...there were a few times I thought "eh, I think that would have went a little different" but overall I think it was an excellent attempt to give closure to the story.
