I really enjoyed it. However, it doesn't feel right to call it a novel, it's more like an extended short story. It's as if the author skipped the climax portion of the story.

This one was so much fun!
There was an awful lot of laughing out loud over here while I read Frenemies--and yeah, there might even have been a little bit of snort-laughing as well. (Two words: Grandma Jen. Two more words: prank war.) I mean, you couldn't help but wonder why the heck past Cameron and Imogen (OMG, love her name!) had been so dead set against being in a relationship, especially since they both secretly wanted to be in one, but at least it made for one heck of a fun story now :)
Honestly--a second chance romance between two likable characters, a feisty grandma, an adorable little girl, an almost as adorable Shih tzu ("I didn't care what she said. I was not getting a dog." [the next day] "I had a dog."), an epic prank war, fabulous banter, and of course smoking hot chemistry. It all equals a perfect read to snuggle up with and escape on a winter evening.
Plus, it's given me a new life goal: start a book club like Grandma Jen's when I'm (cough) slightly older and looking for new and exciting ways to drive my children (grandchildren? Dare I hope?) batty. :D

Very funny, great combination of second chance, neighbors and single dad tropes.

When Emma Hart began concentrating solely on romantic comedies, she knew exactly what she was doing. Drawing from an seemingly endless well of creativity, she manages to offer up funny romantic stories again and again, and they just continue to get better. FRENEMIES, Emma's latest offering, is a delight from start to finish. I instantly adored Imogen and Mason and their second-chance love.
Immy may still be harboring the hurt that came with Mason having ghosted her after college, but that hasn't kept her from living a life that she loves. Sure, her Grandma Jen constantly needs watching, and she hasn't had a date in a while, but Immy wouldn't change a thing (well, maybe a little less of the extra with Grandma Jen...). When Mason and Maya, his little girl, move in next door, though, her calm life goes a little bit topsy-turvy.
Yes, Mason knows that he did Immy wrong all those years ago. But being in her space is stirring up all the memories of what they had, and helping him to realize that some wisdom and self-awareness has come with maturity, and he's not about to let Immy get away again. Convincing her that they deserve a second chance might be tough, but it's a feat that he's more than willing to take on.
Emma has a gift for writing feisty strong women, sexy yet accessible men, and little kids that will steal your heart. The added bonus of a no-holds-barred grandmother and her coterie of trouble-making friends make FRENEMIES a serious keeper. If this book isn't on your rom-com loving TBR, then it needs to be, and quickly, because NUMBER NEIGHBOR, the next standalone in this world, is just around the corner... ❤️

I was provided an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was hilarious. Grandma Jen was one of the funniest characters I've ever read. Everything she says is inappropriate and raunchy, unless there is a certain three year old around, and she is up in everyone's business. I loved her character. This is a funny second chance romance between Imogen, aka Immy, and Mason. Immy lives with the aforementioned hilarious Grandma Jen, running the family art store, and making sure Grandma doesn't get into too much trouble around town and with her equally rowdy book club friends (think Golden Girls on steroids). Mason is Immy's friend with benefits from college, who really hurt her when he graduated and left without a word. The agreed they wouldn't get serious with each other and leave their feelings out of their relationship, but they both knew they had something more. Now, six years later Mason and his adorable daughter Maya are moving next door to Immy and Grandma Jen. Grandma is determined to have Immy married by her next birthday, and Immy is determined to make Mason's life miserable for hurting her all those years ago. Unfortunately for Immy, she's still attracted to Mason, and when he apologizes for hurting her, she has to deal with her feelings and decide if they can be friends or if she wants to be enemies forever. Well you can imagine that the sparks fly between them leaving Immy even more confused about her feelings for Mason and where she fits in his life as a single dad.
As I said this was really funny. I really loved that we had a single dad in the relationship, who is a doting father and has a healthy relationship with her mother. It was nice to see the healthy family dynamic between Mason and his ex as positive role models for little Maya. So often we see the cheating trope or the "I hate my ex" trope. I really appreciated that the angst was between Mason and Immy, and it wasn't really that angsty it was actually pretty funny. I also really liked that Grandma Jen, while a bit ridiculous about it, doesn't pull punches when she calls Immy out on not dealing with her feelings toward Mason.
