Sleeping Cutie is kissed by the frog

Sleeping Cutie by Tanzania Glover is about financial analyst Christian Logan and barista/ PetWorld employee Amber Miller. Christian is very different than his big brother Cameron. The first time he mentioned Tillar I was looking at him sideways. Christian’s only area of success is work, he doesn’t have a strong relationship with his brothers, he has no friends and he hates women. Christian’s obsession with work and lack of female companionship is starting to take a toll on his work & health. He conjures up an idea to get a pretend girlfriend to look more responsible at work. This where Amber comes in, Christian and Amber do not get along because she rejects him and calls him an incel. Amber does not sugar coat Christian’s behaviour, she is his pretend girlfriend that is going to make him a halfway decent human being, at a cost of course. Amber has been through a lot, she’s on her own in the world and she has a chronic disorder. I really enjoyed this book, Amber and Christian have crazy banter and the friendship they build is beautiful. The lessons/dates they go on are sweet and I can’t forget Christian’s fur baby

Christian irked my nerves from beginning to end! The overall story was good, but the main character's "personality" was not pleasant to me at all.

Awesome Read!!

So happy I saw this author as a suggestion on one of my book pages I follow. I really love her writing. I love the progression of Chris. But I really loved the name of the dogs!!!!! Lol. I’m listening to LSG and Tony Toni Tone for the remainder of the day!!! I’m supposed to be working but I’m about to start on book 3!!! I also need to figure out what I am going to read next of hers during my 3 day weekend. Any suggestions???!!

3.75

Overall: 3.75/5
Spice level: 1.5/5
Tropes: slow burn, dating lessons, Sleeping Beauty retelling

CW: fatphobia

Honestly, I liked the previous book better. Christian's character development was decent, but I didn't see the point of making him so fatphobic toward his new sister-in-law, Tillar. He could've easily been written as an asshole-turned-good-guy without the unnecessary and ugly fatphobia. That really irritated me.

I thought the dating lessons aspect was a great way for the characters to build a bond and learn to trust each other. They didn't really have any friends to speak of, so this was their chance to find their best friend and life partner in each other.

Amber's narcolepsy and cataplexy were interesting ways to create a Sleeping Beauty style character and show how she navigated a tough life with those diagnoses.

Their chemistry was ok, but not much really happened in the way of spice until almost the end of the book, which isn't an issue really. It didn't detract from the story

Overall, the book was okay. I do wish the books in the series had POVs from the women too.

Loved it!

I'm loving this twist on fairy tales! Sleeping beauty was definitely a force to be reckoned with when it came to Chris. You never know what you may find when you're not looking.

Christian & Ambers story was cute. It definitely brought awareness to a disorder that you see in a movie, every now and then but isn’t hardly talked about! I don’t like how Amber wouldn’t just tell him what she wanted. It was giving very much that she thought he was a mind reader and it blew me that she kept that secret from him! It was definitely the funniest though, overall a decent read….!
