Liked this one better than the first. More characters and more dynamic. I did really want the will the won’t they vibe between Nora and Magdalena to become romantic, but I guess that would have been asking too much of the time. Enjoyed the ending and the return of Harry Trimble.

I like the book a lot. I was disappointed to learn that it was a sequel to write another book.

Probably would have even said 4.5 ⭐️ but I did not know it was a part two until I was over 50% done.
The beginning felt disjointed and lacking character development, which looking back makes sense if there was a whole other book for that… either way, the plot was engaging and very good at verbalizing the struggles of women in medicine 100 years ago.

A great sequel in the series. I found it a very empowering book to read during Women’s month. The story picks up in Italy, a year and a half after the first book. The book takes us through a test of Nora’s faith and confidence in herself, and the confidence she can put in other women. This book has themes of medicine, women empowering women, and women saying they have the right to choose their own options.
If you’re looking for a “smash the patriarchy, but in the 1800s“ this is the perfect book for that vibe.

I greatly enjoyed this sequel but am a little missed that the title still references Nora in relation to Horace as this story is really about her coming into her own.

Very interesting! I couldn’t put it down. Lots of medical procedures, especially the advent of the cesarean section.

Nora goes to Italy to study medicine, leaving Horace and Daniel home in London. There she grows as a doctor and a woman, but her heart yearns to return to them.
Excellent. I liked it even more than the first one.
