This edition of the long-running "In Death" series was darker and more brutal than others I've read, but ultimately it was rather satisfying and rewarding, with all the normal quirky fun character touches the series is known for.

I think it is always a little bit strange when you know the culprit almost from the beginning of the book, but it took the author serious skill to write a novel interesting till the end. That's your usual J.D.Robb for you.
Credo sia sempre un po' strano quando in un giallo sappiamo chi sia il colpevole sin dall'inizio e ci vuole anche un autore bravo per tenerti attaccato alle pagine comunque fino alla fine..... e questa é J.D.Robb.

At one point while reading I realized I was anxious and on the edge of my seat all because Roarke was picking a lock....

Men! Beware! Lady Justice is out looking for revenge!
This was the feeling of this book. It’s my first “In Death” book and I must say I quite enjoyed it. Took me a while to read because life but read it I did. It’s great reading about two strong female lead characters. They’re strong, work together as a team and lift each other up.
JD Robb did a great job of this story. I always enjoy a good crime novel but very seldom find one with a good female presence. Women are usually the victim but, not in this story. Here you’re bound to find women as victim, cop, perpetrator.
If you enjoy a good crime novel, this is a good one to read.

Maybe I read this too soon after the previous one, but I just didn't find it a compelling read.

I still adore Eve and Roarke, but Vendetta has too little of Peabody, McNab, Feeney, and the rest of the gang that I found myself missing them!

As always I found the interplay between Eve and Peabody as well as between Eve and Roarke hilarious and entertaining. The story was great and the evolution of Eve has been great to see.
