I think this just wasn't for me. I got about halfway through before deciding not to continue with it. The road trip parts and the letters in the past were the biggest hindrance to me getting through it. The writing is beautiful though. The parts I liked, I had a lot of underlines and highlights. But after having it for more than 6 weeks from the library,  reading it felt like a chore and I was just bored. Also, I guess if you're dealing with suicidal ideation, maybe stay away from this one.  I'll rate it 2 stars.

This was a bizarre and unnerving meditation on grief while also being a time capsule of 2016. This transported me and I wasn't sure where it was going to go or what was real but I'm sure that's the point. Loved the writing.

Narrator was good on audio but I really didn't like the contemporary plot. i love her writing but the character of Lily really put me off once she appeared.

Beautiful prose, but both the dialogue and plot were too much.

Read this for bookclub. Didn't love it. I wanted more of the antebellum timeline. Maybe I missed something? Mostly it felt like a man who had a Seinfeld-like banter with his long-term girlfriend wanting more of that banter after she killed herself?
