Hilarious, cute, and chock full of rom com references. It was exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. A cute romance that shines a spotlight on the idea of rom coms being relevant in our real lives, relationships that don’t necessarily fix everything but add to your life, and family/friends who are there for you despite your crazy.
The MC was a little self absorbed and we didn’t see her put other people first, but since it’s her story (and it’s fictional), I gave her a pass.
The third act conflict that appears in every single story felt resolved a little quickly but I’m not too mad at it. I like when conflict is resolved quickly but through mature communication, which I felt was a little lighter on than it could have been.
Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamics between the characters and movie production elements.
Now I have a strong desire to go watch Tom Hanks movies!

There a ton of rom-coms with rom-com obsessed protagonists and I would strongly urge you to seek those out and pass on this one. The main character is insufferable and awful.

female mc was kinda annoying and really immature, i felt like i was reading form the perspective of a child at times.
romance consisted of female mc getting offended over jokes male mc was making as a way of flirting. Also wth is up with Chloe? she refuses love and only has one night stands yet gives Annie dating/relationship advice???
a lot of talk about sex but only one closed door scene

An enjoyable Rom-com about a girl who loves Rom-coms and a boy who's starring in a Rom-com. Filled with movie references and a sweet plotline, it was a bit of fun.

Lovely.
This genre of book will never be able to get a 5 rating from me because that involves elements that can't exist in these stories. Which is unfair I know. So 3.5 is great. I'll read the next one too!

I loved the rom-com references, I loved Drew as a leading man, and I liked the quirky supporting characters. Annie kind of annoyed me at times with her naïveté and tendency to overreact, and the typical tropes (love triangle, conflict, etc.) felt a little forced and underwhelming. Cute overall, and definitely chock full of rom-com. I want more Nick and Chloe content

This book is a shrug. I get that it's supposed to rely very heavily on rom com references but boy howdy is it too much. And it's also the SAME ones on repeat.
I don't get the chemistry between the two leads. Annie (FL) is a Mary Sue and has no real flaws and I don't relate to her at all.
Also the end was too cheesy for me BUT it should have been so that's not a demerit on the book. However, two weeks is too short: 1) the dreaded I love you. Ew. 2) a movie?! Two weeks to shoot a movie and on ONE city block?! No. That's not how film works.
I may read the Chloe/Nick story but I'm not clamoring for it.
