Meet Ruby Simon. She’s a Yale graduate and a therapist who cares deeply for her patients. The thirty-year old loves her family, especially her sister, cares about animals and lives a normal life in Miami Beach. And, yes, she’s also a murderer. Due to the clever writing of author Sascha Rothchild, Ruby is a surprisingly likeable character you’ll find yourself rooting for. When this highly entertaining story begins, Ruby’s first, rather shocking murder is detailed. Were her actions justified? Ruby sure thinks so. Then, moving to present day, Ruby is being questioned by a police detective about the death of her husband Jason, whom she loved deeply. She is adamant that she had nothing to do with his death.

Blood Sugar is an appealing and suspenseful psychological thriller with an unreliable narrator. It was a fast read that kept me guessing. Is Ruby a vigilante killer with a heart of gold? Or, is she a narcissistic psychopath? I thoroughly enjoyed finding out. And I loved the Miami locale, which is so well woven into the story. Fans of the genre, be sure to check this one out. Just don’t take it all too seriously.

Many thanks to Penguin Publishing Group | Putnam for the opportunity to read this engaging book in advance of its April 19, 2022 publication.

Always love a book that casually spreads awareness about diabetes! Also loved the fact that I was feeling sympathy for a murderer. 7.5/10

This was such a fun book! I laughed out loud and felt every emotion Ruby was describing. This is basically 80% retelling and the last 20% are actually what’s happening now and EVERYTHING came together in the end , everything ended up making sense and coming together. It was amazing! I feel like this will be in my top 5 this year :-) loved it! I can recommend the audiobook too - the reader was fantastic.

this was tagged: Thriller, Mystery, Adult, Suspense. i beg to differ. despite being about a serial killer, it was neither thrilling or suspenseful. it is, however, full of psychobabble and reads like a romance novel. there is absolutely no edge to it at all.

Okay I loved this!! I don't really have lots to say about it but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Our FMC is basically a female version of Dexter and we love that for her. Also I just know Roman is fine as fuck.

That's really all I've got. Thriller girlies will love this.

This review is for myself:
Made myself get through this just to say I finished. I was unimpressed by the whole story. The main characters killing instincts finally catch up to her for something she didn’t commit, when her husband dies from low blood sugar. His mother frames her due to her hate and that was the best part with the maid and Romans plan to screw over the mom.
