One of the most racist books I've ever read. I honestly think the 1988 film starring Hugh Grant did a great deal more with the material, and that movie ends with the Worm Woman wearing a strap-on in her lair. So. Take from that what you will.
Damn you, Bram Stoker! I expected more!

I read the book half way and couldn't finish it. In other words, there's nothing good that I can say about it.
The author drones on and on for chapters without any valuable development to the story.
Since I didn't finish it, I would limit my critical remarks. However, if you head over to the book's wiki and read its reviews, you will find that my review coincides with them.
Save yourself some time and just skip this one.

Not what I was expecting from the talented writer of Dracula. Also pretty racist. Pass.

Rumour has it that Stoker was heavily influenced by the drugs he was prescribed for his liver disease while writing this story. I well believe it. I could not put it down because I wanted to know where the madness was heading. The final 20 pages were like a fever dream, delightfully gruesome, laugh out loud moments (which were not intended) and the most ridiculous ending to a wild, underdeveloped plot with shallow unlikeable characters. Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

I’m not sure why I sat through this one. I lost the plot halfway through (maybe during the midnight reading session?), found the writing patchy and the ending poor, and generally didn’t like it.
