Made me want to learn so much more. Whole book is incredible and not super dense - last couple of sections really stuck with me

A great overview of threats to decolonization and how to overcome them, very direct and passionate. Crazy how precisely Fanon describes patterns that we’re seeing 60 years later

My first ever theory book. Blew my mind with how clear and direct Fanon is about what feels like an insurmountable challenge. Evaporated my last sympathies with the imperial core and its selective principles.

probably one of the most incredible books ive ever read period. its hard not to get swept up in fanon's language and whirlwind of revolutionary ideas especially as a member of any minority

it might not all hold up under careful scrutiny and historical hindsight... but our confrontations on why are just as valuable as the captured specific ideas in the book itself. it makes it all the more engrossing because it establishes a mental dialogue. it reads like passioned speech. only the most incredible revolutionary texts can pull this off, and hit u like that lightningbolt

id give this six stars if i could: i'll be thinking about this for a long time

"So comrades, let us not pay tribute to Europe by creating states, institutions, and societies that draw their inspiration from it... We must make a new start, develop a new way of thinking, and endeavor to create a new man."

ngl, post-grad illiteracy made it extremely difficult to finish this book, but v glad i finally did!

A tough read, but an important one. I’ll have to revisit after gaining a bit more context from some secondary sources.
