i think that this book was way too long for what happened in this book. i love raven kennedy’s writing, but i also think that she is a bit too descriptive at some points. it takes away from what’s occurring in the book.
once again i enjoyed the ending but was disappointed that i just read an entire book with no slade/auren reunion. i’m hoping it happens early in the next book. also… i’m not a fan of aurens memory loss at the end. i’m more so upset about that.
i think we could’ve had a better ending of the ending of this book. i would like to see more from auren. it seems that every battle she has fought it always results in her losing/needing slade to save her at the end.
overall i mean i did enjoy the book. but there were things i would fix. this was the first book in this series where i wasn’t really bored at all… i was waiting for the reunification that never came

“I didn’t…. Dislike it”
Actually that’s a lie. While the overall plot is interesting and a lot happens in this book that was exciting and opened up for a great finale, It’s also 600+ pages of slow character building that makes you dislike the characters, REALLY poorly timed spice scenes (I.e. in the middle of a slaughter), an oafish character who’s POV chapters really live up to his brain cell capacity, and missing plot points that should’ve been present (hello, Rissa? Lu? Argo?). Will I read the final book? Probably, I’ve committed this far and I’m nothing if not a glutton for punishment with bad books.

Think of this as a 2.75. I understand that the author was trying to expand the world she’d created, and give us something past Orea but it really wasn’t necessary. This book could have been cut down 40%, allowing Auren and Slade to reunite earlier.
Why are we still getting chapters about Malina?
NO ONE LIKES HER. Even her assassin was more interesting,

A solid climax to the series, I can’t wait to see how it all wraps up in the final book. Lots of growth, some new relationships, many shocking revelations. Queen Kaila is a b*tch. so glad to see Auren finally welcomed.
