“Ever since, she has been my light. For someone with a soul as black as mine, who’s done the darkest deeds and has the foulest power, her glow is something I will not give up.”

Gold is a bit different from the other books in the series, dare I say more descriptive? I don’t know but we finally get to see more of other characters such as Queen Malina (I was kicking my feet the whole time she interacted with her shadow), Os and Slade.

Auren storyline bored me a little, just because I felt the pace being too slow, and a lot of the things could’ve happened in a shorter time? I don’t know. I am losing a bit the overall plot of the series. I would’ve definitely liked this book to be a novella.

But daddy Slade slays as always. A man that will burn the world down for you and right every wrong that was ever made against you?? Check.
He’s desperate to be reunited with his love and literally dying from it. Love love love a man unhinged as per usual.

I am looking forward to Goldfinch to finish this series and can’t waaaaaaait to see my babies reunited

DNF 45%. I DO NOT GIVE TWO FUCKS ABOUT Melina. I did not pick up this book to read about a c-list character, who is a shitty person, finding lust. Especially, when the two MC's are fighting for their lives and separated from each other. The only "romance" in the book is between her and her assassin, who I'm sure she'll end up fucking. Dom/sub relationship with her assassin does not a redemption arc make. She has been a terrible person throughout this entire series and having the assassin "put her in her place" by engaging in a sexual relationship with her and dominating her outside of the bedroom does not absolve her of anything. Since she seems to enjoy being dominated by him it sounds more like a reward than any punishment for the harm she's caused. (Also, the assassin is Black, let me not even get into the racial dynamics and stereotypes of a Black man "dominating" a white woman). I rolled my eyes every time I saw Melina's point of view and promptly skipped it, but after having to skip 2-3 chapters in a row because they were all Melina's I realized this isn't the book for me. She made Melina a prominent part of the story to provide the "romance" because she knew she wouldn't be reuniting Auren and Slade in this book. Fuck Melina, we don't like her and she needs to pay for all the harm she's caused ,but instead of her meeting a gruesome end like everyone else who was a piece of shit we get to watch her love life get more time on the page than the two main fucking characters.

I can't believe we waited this long for this story.

Thank you to Raven Kennedy and The Nerd Fam for an arc of this highly anticipated book!

I was left heartbroken and in tears after reading Glow and was more than ready to dive into this story again. I want to start out by saying, that I am glad Raven decided not to make this the last book of the series and I know the last book is gonna be amazing.

Gold begins right where we left off in Glow, with Auren going into the rift. A lot of series make a small jump between books, but I am glad this felt like I was just continuing the next chapter.

I LOVED Auren in this book! I have loved her through the others as well, but seeing her on a journey alone makes me proud. She has come so far from the first book.

Slade made my heart break a thousand times in this. I literally had tears in my eyes through every one of his chapters. The loss of Auren has made him lose it. We finally see him as the villain he is and that he would do ANYTHING for Auren. And I am obsessed.

I did however not like that Queen Malina had that many chapters, and honestly I skimmed through them.

The ending left me FURIOUS!!!!! Damn, I hate the cliffhangers in this series. I am gonna go cry myself to sleep now and stay there until the next book comes out.
