Thank you to Raven Kennedy and The Nerd Fam for an arc of this highly anticipated book!

I was left heartbroken and in tears after reading Glow and was more than ready to dive into this story again. I want to start out by saying, that I am glad Raven decided not to make this the last book of the series and I know the last book is gonna be amazing.

Gold begins right where we left off in Glow, with Auren going into the rift. A lot of series make a small jump between books, but I am glad this felt like I was just continuing the next chapter.

I LOVED Auren in this book! I have loved her through the others as well, but seeing her on a journey alone makes me proud. She has come so far from the first book.

Slade made my heart break a thousand times in this. I literally had tears in my eyes through every one of his chapters. The loss of Auren has made him lose it. We finally see him as the villain he is and that he would do ANYTHING for Auren. And I am obsessed.

I did however not like that Queen Malina had that many chapters, and honestly I skimmed through them.

The ending left me FURIOUS!!!!! Damn, I hate the cliffhangers in this series. I am gonna go cry myself to sleep now and stay there until the next book comes out.

I found the majority of this book tough to meander through. The characters are disconnected and all over the board, intentionally so, but it made the read challenging as you didn’t have the comfort of the primary story lines being intertwined for the majority. Malina’s arc in this book is predictable but generally well-received. Slade’s vengeance crusade is fairly satisfying retribution for the book 4 finale. The end of this book really starts to resolve several of the unresolved story lines, but there is just so much in the final chapters that it is a bit overwhelming. What’s a romantasy without fated mates anyway? Still looking forward to finishing the series next month!

What a ride. Not predictable at all!
Some cringy scenes towards the end, but overall I’m so invested in Auren and Slade’s story.

Sigh. I was really excited for this book, especially after the huge cliffhanger at the end of Glow…but this was SO disappointing. It’s 600 pages of Auren and Slade walking around trying to find each other followed up by 40 pages of actual plot at the end. If I hadn’t been committed to this series I honestly would have DNF’d it. But I’m no quitter.

I absolutely cannot stand Malina’s story line, I could have done without her entire existence in this story actually. The author is trying to develop her character and she has the ONLY romantic scene in the entire book…which was disappointing.

I ultimately rounded down from 2.5 stars. The ending of the book just wasn’t enough to make up for the 600 pages I had to suffer through to get there. I’m dreading reading the next one - but again, I’m no quitter so I’ll do it. Especially since this book ends on another cliffhanger

The plot for this is a low 3/5. Only her phenomenal writing is what brings it up to a solid 4/5. You could unfortunately tell this was supposed to be a 5 book series that was stretched to 6.

"I like knowing that even apart, I have a piece of him with me. It’s a comforting presence to have his magic woven with mine, as if it’s reminding me that we’ll never be truly ripped apart from one another."

My heart hurts. After everything Auren has endured it was great to see her find strength within herself during this book... and then the ending happened... that's all I'm going to say so I dont give anything away.

What a way to open the door to the final book. I can see why Kennedy decided to split the final book into two.

I loved the introduction of new characters and learning more about Annwyn and the vivid pictures that were painted in my mind via Kennedy's words.

I also never thought I would say this, but I am really beginning to like Queen Malina too!

I cannot wait to see how this book finishes and to hopefully finally see Auren and Slade get their happily ever after.
