This book is a prequel to the Dorothy Must Die series. I have been interested in reading these for a while and saw online that it was best to start with this one. I really enjoyed it, I loved how all the characters were portrayed and how it ties in with the original story. I always enjoy the twisted tale type books so I had high hopes for this anyway but it definitely lived up to my expectations. I’m really excited to keep reading this series! 😊

Definitely intrigues me, and makes me want to read the book, though Dorothy did teeter between love to hate and hate to love a bit often.

This book was good, but not the best book I've ever read, hence the four-star rating. It was interesting that it gave Dorothy greater depth as a character and allowed me to relate to her more as a three-dimensional character with a backstory rather than just a villain who is evil just for the sake of being evil. This makes Dorothy one of the most interesting literary villains to read about, as I found myself empathizing with her occasionally, despite her many flaws. I would have enjoyed it a little more if I'd read it before reading The Wicked Will Rise, but the story is still relevant whenever you read it. Overall highly recommended.

Excellent backstory that enrichs the history of Oz and explains several questions that arise in Book 1.

First off, I just want to say one word that represents this novella/short story: WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I read Dorothy Must Die I was extremely impressed by Danielle Paige's writing, but after reading There's No Place like Oz there are no words other than WOW that can describe this story. The details were amazing and the storyline couldn't have been more solid. I can't wait for the other novels in this amazing continuation of the famous land of Oz. I would definitely recommend this story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I flew through this. As good as the 2nd half of Dorothy Must Die. Loved the story of how Dorothy came back to OZ. I definitely recommend reading it if you're reading the series. I usually don't count individual novellas in my Book Challenge but this one was pretty long (for a novella) so it's counting.

I breezed through this in a couple days after reading Dorothy Must Die. It was a fun read and I enjoyed feeling like I was "in on" some of the secrets for things that came after this prequel.

These novellas are great! I haven’t read Dorothy Must Die yet, so I thought I’d start here. They’re quick and fun and give such an interesting twist on what happened after Dorothy and the gang saw the Wizard.
