I am not a big fan of narrative nonfiction, but this novel truly surprised me. The con tent of the story and Louis' life are incredible in and of themselves, but Hillenbrand's writing makes the story jump off the pages.

Additionally, this novel touched and intrigued some of the most reluctant readers on my middle school classroom. Amazing novel!

With this book, I went back and forth as I read it. The descriptions and language are beautiful and precise. But the characters do not feel authentic. The world Condie created is beautiful, complicated, and frightening.

There are times when I adore this novel, but times when it feels like fluff.
