"Wordless voices, breaking the silence suddenly with such depth of contentment, such passion of desire, or, in the voices of children, such freshness of surprise; breaking the silence?"

People weren't lying when they said Woolf's work were beautifully written (2.75)

“that is what abuse is / knowing you are / going to get salt / but still hoping for sugar / for nineteen years.”

“i’m sorry / i wasn’t / the daughter / you had / in mind.”

Oh, wow. I’ve only really liked one compilation of modern poetry, but this collection is absolutely lovely and beautiful. No words(!) will describe the emotions I felt while reading the poems in this book, oh my god.

Again, beautiful– I want the words carved in my skin and in my bones

“They say I come from money and I didn’t and I didn’t even have / love and it’s unfair” “I’m yours if you’ll have me / quietly or loudly / sincerely your daughter / regardless / you’re mine.” “you don’t want to be forgotten / You just want to disappear” “Paradise is very fragile and it seems that it’s only getting worse / Our leader is a megalomaniac and we’ve seen that before / but never because it was what the country deserved.” “because things that can’t be bought can’t be evaluated / and that makes them beyond human reach.”

—lines from the compilation that I really liked

(I’m not a huge fan of modern poetry by the way) Maybe I’m a little biased but… Lana Del Ray, your mind. Good lord. Favorite poems: Bare feet on linoleum, LA Who am I to Love You?, My bedroom is a sacred place now - There are children at the foot of my bed, and Paradise is Very Fragile
